My heart stops. One. Two. Three. Pain shoots through my head so sharply that I shut my eyes, staggering backward to contain it. My phone slips from my hand and cracks on the floor. A muffled sound escapes , a noise that doesn’t sound like me and I’m startled that it registered at all. But I can’t pull my eyes away from the sight on the bed.
