7 WORLD'S END –––––––– THE LANDSCAPE WE ARE passing through is craggy, with spindly plants growing on steep hillsides. The only eyes we see reflecting the light of our headlights are those of owls, perched on the upper branches of the stunted trees. Lightning flashes almost continually in the distance, and the smell of rainstorms permeates the air. The feeling of storm-swept desolation builds moment by moment, an almost physical sensation tied to this landscape. The heavy raindrops begin to beat against the roof of the van, a comforting sound in any other circumstances. The road leads up towards a mountain pass, with twin peaks, one on either side of the road. Three moons shine weakly from straight ahead of us, and directly over the road.
