Sam slid into bed with him, put both arms around Leo, and held him. So close. Incontrovertibly. Heart thumping against his ribs, so loud he wondered whether Leo felt it. Pillows and the tall headboard at his back. Leo tucked up against him, leaning on him. One blanket pulled up about halfway, in case Leo needed warmth. Sam had kicked off his shoes and lost his jacket, but he was mostly dressed, work pants and the simple grey button-down shirt he’d picked to look unobtrusive. He had socks on, inexpensive black ones. Leo did too: the new beach-themed ones from Colby. Leo, head on Sam’s shoulder, settled an arm around Sam’s waist: holding on.
