10 Face to Face

I didn’t sleep long before the girls were in the room and with trays of delicious smelling food. Elliot got up, nodded to Cathy and Maggie and walked out. At the door he turned to me.

Elliot: “I have some business to take care of. I will see you ladies in a bit.”

Cathy nodded and ran to me in bed and started looking at my neck like a crazy person!

Me: “What are you doing?!”

Cathy: “ Looking to see if he marked you yet, I heard him leave his room last night. I figured he came to mark you.”

Maggie: “This isn’t the old time he wouldn’t have done it yet. Plus, with Kimmy not understanding about the mate bond, if he did it with out her love or consenting, it would hurt them forever.”

Me: “Mate bond? Isn’t that just s*x?”

Cathy: “Well you see, that’s touchy in wolf culture. We have the same rules: you shouldn’t have a partner until you have found your mate. Some find them at 18 or sooner, while others wait their whole life for their mates. There’s some that lose hope of a mate, so they mate and marry someone for what they think love is.”

Me: “So mate, is like marrying? And should you wait till someone says it to you??”

Maggie: “You need to read about the Moongoddess. You are one of her chosen children after all.”

Cathy elbows Maggie and realization comes over her face, along with a red blush.

Me: “Why are you acting weird and secretive? What else do I need to know???”

Cathy: “Cats out of the bag now.. thanks Mag he wanted to wait. We need to call Alpha Elliot in here for this discussion.”

Maggie: “It will be good practice for Kimberly while you try to reach Alpha Elliot with her link.”

Me: “My what?”

Cathy: “You don’t feel a link to Elliot?? Like you can sense when he’s getting closer, or maybe hear him talking?”

Maggie: “Don’t be silly, she isn’t apart of the pack and they didn’t mate. She can’t do that yet.”

Me: “So your saying how I communicated in wolf form can be down at all times?”

Sioux: “Now your catching on. When Mates perfect eyes glaze over he is linking to someone, most likely Beta Caleb.”

While I was distracted talking to Sioux, Maggie had placed food in front of me and I w out of the conversation to devour the delicious snacks. They had brought cinnamon rolls, donuts, bear claws, and biscuits with gravy. They know the way to my heart is through food, these girls took care of me.

Cathy had me text Elliot after we were done eating to talk about this Moongoddess. I didn’t get a response, but about thirty minutes later he was knocking on the door. Caleb walked in with a few books in hand, he set them on the bedside stand and turned to Maggie.

Caleb: “Ms. Maggie, may I speak to you outside?”

Maggie: “Of course, Beta Caleb.”

Caleb: “You don’t have to use my title, you can just call me Caleb.”

Maggie: “I’ll do that when you stop calling me miss, I’m just Maggie.”

They walked outside and closed the door.

Cathy: “I’m not used to a sound-proof home anymore, it’s weird not hearing anything.”

Me: “So why did the boys call you a rouge??”

Elliot: “ Yes Ms.Cathy, I’d like to know more about your situation. And more about your family, Luna”

Cathy: “Mine is more complicated.. my father was accused of plotting agains our Alpha. He was the pack doctor, but my father couldn’t save our Luna and her first born child.. so the Alpha found a way to exact revenge on him and banish my mother and I. With out the Luna, the Alpha went insane and killed his son to keep the power of the pack.

My father was slaughtered in front of the whole pack after being banished. I was gone before it happened. But my mother died from a broken heart soon after. I have been on my own since the age of probably 14. Maggie and the witches took me in and have helped me and taught me things I missed out being in the human world.”

I tackled Cathy with a hug and didn’t let go until I knew she was not going to cry. She pulls me off and mouths a “Thank you” then sits up a little straighter with pride in her face.

Cathy: “ I am Cathrin Pine from the Red Moon Pack.”

Elliot bowed his head and when he raised it he met her eyes, and smiled.

Elliot: “My Luna, you have strong friends, they have served you well, and will be amazing additions to our pack.”

Me: “They are my family, nothing will change that. But we can talk about the ‘addition to our pack’ later. The next topic I need answered is who the hell is this Moongoddess and why does she want to talk to me??”

Elliot: “ information for inflation little Luna. Tell me about your family, what you remember about your pack.”

Me: “I only remember being with my parents at the house in the woods. Not much to tell, I have visited my uncle who was Mayor of a town twice since I was 6. My grandparents died. I'm not sure why. I remember my grandfather most. He was a strong man even at his age, and aged gracefully. My parents were hunting guides. They showed people how to track deer and elk, they liked things like that. We were happy until my senior year. I was 17. They went for a date night, some drunk driver hit them head on… both died on transit to a hospital.

It seems Maggie can give you more information on them than I can.”

Trying not to show my voice crack, Elliot walks over and embraces me while wiping a tear that I didn’t know had fallen. Elliot made me feel safe and loved with one action. Trying not to let him see me so upset, I try to get up but he holds me down and just sits there in a hug. When Cathy clears her throat, that is when he lets go a tad but still stays close.

Elliot: "Well, we can talk about the Moongoddess later we can take one thing at a time."

Me: "No. I need to know who this lady is before she comes to talk to me. What do I need to know?"

Cathy: "Always respect the Moongoddess, that is the first rule."

Elliot: "I had Beta Caleb bring you some material to read, none of us know when she will visit."

Sioux: "She will visit soon, but don't tell them. Moongoddess will only talk to you and not them."

Me: "I think I will just eat in here and read for a bit, it's already late. When dinner is ready call me and I will join you,"

Cathy gave me a sideway glance but agreed with a nod and walked out. Elliot gave me a kiss on my forehead.

Elliot: "If you need anything or have questions, do not hesitate to ask."

Me: "Thank you for everything."

Elliot: "You do not have to thank me, I haven't done anything yet, my Luna. I will be here for everything, that is what a mate does my love."

They both walk out the door and close it behind them. I grab a cinnamon roll off the food tray and grab the first book on the table. Before I could open the book I felt eyes on me. I turned around on the bed to the window to see the sun getting lower.

Me: "It is beautiful here."

Sioux: "Yes it is, I love it."

*Lady in white* : "I think that all the time when I see this sight"

I turned around, startled to see a beaming lady on the other side of the bed sitting. She seemed tall even sitting next to me, with cloud-like hair, white and flowing like it was levitating.

*Lady in white* : "Hello Kimberly it has been too long my dear."

Me: "How do you know my name?!"

*Lady in white* : "My child, of course I know you. I blessed you just as I blessed your mother. I am Selene but most know me as Moongoddess."
