7. Wolves

Kimberly's POV

I tried to find my way in the some little town, I slowed down and was enjoying the warm day. By the looks of the sun it looked to be around 3 in the afternoon. I didn't eat the food the girls brought to the room, I was so intently listening to the conversations I had lost interest in the food. I feel around for my phone fearing I forgot it, I was relived when I pull it out of my back pocket. I keep $50 in my phone incase of emergency. I recover my money and go to a little mom and pop café to find something to eat. I walk in and found a seat next to the window, before I am done looking at the menu sipping a water I hear chairs moving. I look up to find the girls there smiling looking at another menu.

Me: "How do you two always know where to find me?”

Cathy: "I have a sixth sense and it tells me where you are." as she winks at me

Maggie: "Truth is the necklace you have, well it has a medallion on it that tells me where to find you if I need to."

Me: "Oh well.. That is not like a kid on a lease at all. Is it.”

I give them a look of disaproval but leave it at that. I am secretly greaful they had the care to give me something so valuable just wish they wouldnt had hid it.

The waitress came over and we ordered our food, once she left I couldn’t hold in my questions any longer.

Me:”How come you never wanted to tell me the truth?”

Maggie: “The coven made an executive decision saying it was safer to leave you in the dark. I am Sorry Kimmy.”

Cathy:”Can you blame them? If Alpha Holden found out you had your wolf he would see you as a threat.”

Me: “Who is the ‘Alpha Holden’ I don’t have an uncle. My mother was an only child.”

Maggie:” That’s what you mother wanted us to say so you never ask questions. In reality you have two uncles and an aunt. And your father had a sister but she died when you were a baby.”

Me:”How do you know so much about me??”

Maggie: “ I’m your best friend. I made it my job to know so when this time came, I was prepared to help you.”

That was kinda sweet I thought. I grabbed both their hands and couldn’t help but be a little sad. I had no idea about any of this and I couldnt imagine keeping it for so long. I felt bad, that I was so angry with them both but I understand why they did it now.

Cathy: “ Andrea knows nothing of this too. So your not alone if that helps.”

Oddly enough it did. I wasn’t the only one who was not clued in, wait till she finds out. She will be mad. I will hate that conversation when we get home.

One thing is still bothering me about the guys though.

Me: “Mate? That’s what’s Elliot said when he seen me.. it made my body have a mind of its own and I coudlnt think of anything but getting close to him.. What doess that mean??”

Cathy:”Trust me we will go through learning werewolf101 later. Right now we have one important task. When you kissed Elliot it did something, it broke the spell the coven had put on your wolf. So tonight at the real full moon you will shift for the first time and get your wolf.”

Me:”What??!!! I don’t have a choice? Or time to prepare??”

Maggie:”Sadly no, the first time is unstoppable but after that it can be controlled. For the most part. It will hurt sense your body is not what it should be for your shift, but we will talk you through it and help where we can. Elliot will be able to help the most.”

The waitress brought our food and we ate mostly in silence after that. Some small talk about the boys loading our camp. When we were done I paid for the food and as we got up I heard the bell on the door ring and the most awful stench hit my nose. Cathy stopped looked at the door and turned white. She grabbed Maggie’s arm and pushed me behind her.

Cathy: “We need to leave now. I will call Elliot”

Me: “where are we even going to go?” Trying to not make a face with the stench crawling up my noise.

As Maggie led us for the door there was a man next to it who locked eyes on me. He gave me a very bad feeling but I smiled as we walked out. I just walked through the door ignoring his glare. Something in the back of my mind said to find Elliot and stay away from burly beard. I wasnt going to argue.

Maggie: “ Cathy call Elliot tell him we’re going to need that ride. Kim we are going to Elliots Pack for protection right now.”

Me:” Is he mad I ran out on him?..”

Cathy:” No we told him to let you cool down and we would all meet back up. Man Cora didn’t like the looks of that rogues back there. Did you see that scar on his lip?”

I come to a stop and think for a second. Cathy had talked about a Cora before but there is no one else with us? I thought she was another friend that just didnt come around often.

Me: “ Cora ?? I thought she was a friend from your hometown? how could she not like that guy.? And what does the word rogue mean?!?”

Maggie and Cathy looked a bit amused at my confusion.

Cathy:” Let’s get the guys here and then we will discuss the wolf thing, but Cora isn’t a person she is my wolf. Some see them as a subconscious, that we can morph to.”

I never got into the supernatural side of books, or movies. Though who to say it would even be accurate? Regardless I needed to understand more and find this missing family. Having a family back kinda made me excited. For not having anyone for so long it would be nice to have someone there, to help remember my parents. I was pulled from my thoughts when a black SUV pulls beside us.

Caleb:” Hello ladies. Maybe you remember me from earlier?”

Cathy:”He sent his Beta to fetch us. Great.”

Maggie giggles and walks up to the door and opens us for us.

Maggie: “Remember they promised not to harm us we’re safe. Especially when we have the next Luna in our presence.”

I shake my head and ignore them and clime into the car. The drive was silent until we got out of town.

Caleb:”So Luna, where are you from? Alpha just said you were visiting for a vacation.”

Me: “ We are all from Missouri. We came for a trip after finals and a heart break get away. This is not how we expected to go i guess.”

Cathy: “Kim let’s not talk about that.”

Maggie:”Caleb please don’t tell Elliot our plans, they changing every day. But it is best if Kim gets to tell him about her reasons for being here.”

Cathy pulls me close trying to be descret so Caleb dont ease drop.

Cathy:” Do not being up any former man, and anything you have ever done willingly.”

Me:”ok? Your the wolf here, I’ll just following your lead. Idk what to do or what protocol is.”
