The morning sun poured gently through the thin curtains of Sophie’s small room. She sat on the edge of her wooden bed, her heart racing. For weeks she had been saving little by little from the money David paid her, adding it carefully into a tin box she kept hidden under her bed. Every coin, every note had felt like a treasure. And today, that treasure would finally open a new door. Rohan noticed her fidgeting and smiled. “You’re restless today. What’s on your mind?” Sophie bit her lip and then grinned like a child. “Rohan… today, I’m going to buy it.” “Buy what?” he asked, though he already suspected. “My sewing machine,” she whispered, her eyes glistening with joy. “Finally, I won’t have to borrow from anyone. I can work faster, better, and maybe one day… I’ll even have my own shop.
