“Lad, this is your 4th week as an instructor. How is it for you?” When the crowd dispersed and Hisa-jii returned from who knows where, that’s the first thing he uttered. I looked at him. He’s still the same old man who had that fire in his eyes to shape up a new generation of boxers. Or rather, he still had his hopes up that I might change my mind about pursuing a career in boxing. “If I can say one thing, it’s a little fun seeing my students grasp the basics and be skilled at it with every passing lesson. The kids that I thought would find it tough grew to like it a lot. Even the mothers who only tried it out after watching my first lesson are also improving.
