There’s no such thing as the erasure of guilt. One could accept and live with it while putting the guilt at the back of one’s mind. Forgetting was also not an option. One could try and forget it. However, when faced with the source of that guilt or something or someone connected to it, it would rise to the surface. Between those two possibilities, the first one could torment the person every day depending on how buried that guilt was while the second one could torment and break a person when he or she remembered it after enough time passed.
