Chapter 53. Terror
Canessa lowered her head so Tempura could mount. However, Tempura felt too weak. She sank to her knees and cried. All the pain and suffering she saw at the hospital struck her hard as if she had absorbed it all. Chase knelt beside her and wrapped his arms around her.
"It's hard to be strong," he said when she could cry no more tears.
He gave her a handkerchief to dry her eyes and blow her nose.
"I think I'd rather have fought a battle and died. I feel all their pain," she said with a sniff.
Chase hugged her.
"And here I thought I was in trouble because of Zeta," he said, making light of the mood.
"You publicly kissed me," she said. "I think your claim is made."
