Chapter 11: The Rival

301 Words
One week later. Ayesha was finally feeling safe. She had the key to Zain's room. He still acted cold in the day, but at night she saw him checking her door. That evening, Zain got a call. His face went dark. "Raghav is back," he said after hanging up. "From Dubai." "Who's Raghav?" Ayesha asked. "My biggest enemy," Zain said. "And now he knows about you." Ayesha froze. "Me?" Zain looked at her. "Someone told him I care about you. And Raghav... he likes to hurt me through the people I care about." That night, security was doubled. But at 3 AM, the power went out. Ayesha woke up to a shadow in her room. "Hello, beautiful," a man's voice whispered. "I'm Raghav. Zain's friend." He grabbed her mouth before she could scream. "Don't worry, I won't kill you," he said. "I just need to send Khan a message." He dragged her to the window. Suddenly, the door broke open. Zain. He looked like death itself. Gun raised. "Touch her and I will end you," Zain's voice was low. Deadly. Raghav laughed and held Ayesha in front of him like a shield. "A knife to her throat. One move and she's gone." Zain didn't blink. "I don't negotiate with trash," he said. BANG. Zain shot. The bullet went past Ayesha's ear and hit Raghav's shoulder. Raghav screamed and let go. Guards rushed in. Zain ran to Ayesha and pulled her away. He checked her from head to toe. "Are you hurt? Did he hurt you?" His hands were shaking again. Ayesha shook her head, crying. "You came..." Zain lifted her face with both hands. "Don't you ever scare me like that again," he whispered angrily. Then he kissed her forehead. Hard. "I told you," he said. "No one touches what's mine."
