Two weeks later.
Ayesha was better now. She could walk in the mansion, but only with guards.
Zain still didn't talk to her. But he sent food. Medicine. Books.
That evening, the whole mansion was decorated. Guards were everywhere.
"Who's coming?" Ayesha asked a maid.
"The boss's fiancee," the maid whispered. "Miss Sana."
Ayesha's heart sank. Fiancee?
The door opened and a woman walked in. Red dress. Perfect hair. Diamond necklace.
Sana. Beautiful. Rich. And she hated Ayesha on sight.
"So this is the gold digger?" Sana laughed, looking Ayesha up and down. "I heard you trapped Zain with your father's debt."
Ayesha stayed quiet. "I didn't—"
"Shut up," Sana cut her off. "You think 1 year contract makes you Mrs. Khan? Don't be stupid."
Just then, Zain came down the stairs. Black suit. Cold face.
"Sana," he said flatly. "What are you doing here?"
"Darling, I missed you," Sana ran to hug him. "I came back from London for you."
Zain didn't hug back. He just looked at Ayesha standing in the corner.
"She stays," Zain said suddenly. "In this house. For 1 year."
Sana's smile vanished. "What? Why?"
"Because I said so," Zain's voice was dangerous.
He walked past both of them and stopped near Ayesha.
He looked at her fever-pale face from last week.
"Are you okay?" he asked her, so quietly only she could hear.
Ayesha nodded, shocked.
Sana saw everything. And her eyes filled with jealousy.
The war had begun.
