Chapter 22: A Perfect Fit

Laurel paces around her apartment, waiting for Tony. She checks her wall-mounted clock. It reads nine-fifty a.m. Tony's late, but given the events of last night, she couldn't even be bothered with the time or his tardiness. She deems Mr. Darcy Conrad a worthy opponent in the conference room and at dinner. He caught her off guard multiple times, but she didn't stumble over her words. She's proud of herself and how she kept her cool. Darcy intrigued her, however; she actually considered working with him without the support of PWI. Her final words to Darcy were, “I'll consider it," in response to his question posed to her about severing the company's involvement and assuming a partnership with her only.
