Chapter Six

Claire's Pov

Do you know the feeling that you already want to go home and lock yourself in your bedroom to avoid more bad omen? That's what I feel right now. First my broken alarm clock didn't alarm on time so I came to work late and of course my boss scolding me. Second is the wrong orders that I serve, of course it will be salary deducted. Third is those perverts’ customers who really don't understand the word "No I'm not interested" and still keep flirting with me. Then lastly is that no one will cover my shift in bar. I forgot to tell my manager that I have to do something today. So, I need to finish my shift till 8pm but my meeting with the don is 5pm. I can't afford to lost this job that’s why I choose to stay and finish my shift. I hope the don will understand.

Arriving in the mafia house in the middle of night is not good because it means your business is unannounced and illegal that will earn so much questions from the gate guard. Luckily, I give Greg a heads up that I will arrive late so he can inform the gate guards and he did. Now I am escorted to a room and instructed to wait the don to finish some business deals. I have a slight idea what "business deals" means in mafia. it’s either squeezing someone to give information’s or punishing someone who doesn't pay their debts. I don't know that the don deal with it personally.

From time to time there are different people coming to check on me and say that the don will finish it soon at some point someone offer me some cookies and I gladly accepted it because I'm already starving. Last time I check

its already 10:30pm and I’m still stuck here waiting. I texted Greg but he is not responding. I'm tired in work and all I want to do is sleep in my comfy bed. Maybe taking a nap will not hurt and I’m sure the next person who will check on me will wake me up so I stretch my body to the sofa and soon sleep take over me.

I wake up to the sounds of my phone and answer it without looking to the caller I.d.

I'm still here in the mafia house Greg, I fall asleep while waiting to the don. I’m not sure if he returns back here last night.

I'm not sure Claire but you need to complied to the don. It generous enough to lend you money then give you chance to explain yourself but all you do is come late then falling asleep while waiting. The don is highly respected person Claire and I hope you show some respect.

Do you think Greg you can set up another meeting with the don for me?

I didn’t expect that the meeting will take this long, is it just me or everyone around me is trying to impress me. I don’t mind them sharing their ideas and make some suggestions, impact I am thankful to their efforts. The thing is there is someone waiting to me in my office and I am eager to talk to her. I don’t want to be rude to my subordinates but I’ve been looking forward to talk to her. It’s been so many years since the last time that we talked and that talked didn’t end well. I didn’t keep tabs on her because I know that when I do, the temptation to be close to her will be stronger than before so I keep my distance as far as I can. For her safety, I know that my father will be always look after her.

I went to my office after the meeting but I saw her sleeping in the sofa… I want to wake her up so badly because to be honest I really really miss her. But when I saw her face, I decide against it. She looks so beautiful even in her sleep. I thought I’ve waited several years to talk to her again, I am sure I can wait few more hours or days to talk to her. I cover her with a blanket and then live her in her sleep. When I reach my bed room I still of her, then I remember that our meeting is suppose to be 5pm today but with unknown reasons she showed up so late. I don’t want others to think that I have a soft spot for her because it will her life in danger. I will be talk to Greg tomorrow so he give the message to Claire.
