My Bold Step

1217 Words
Gideon and I started working together, we trained every night near the river bank, I found out that day by day I was more stronger but one thing that I perceived and know is the Devans weaknesses is the fact that we are peaceful in nature. No matter how furious we try to be during the training, we are always held back by the inner peace in us. I told my dad about it and he concluded by saying it's what makes us who we are, we are not born nor created to be as violent, aggressive and vicious as the Rygnores, Vampires, werewolves, Elfs or the Humans, we are different and that's special. I don't like the fact we are too peaceful, it makes us more vulnerable and those emotions really makes a being more stronger I heard myself say out loud as I walked out disappointed. I was followed almost immediately by Gideon, he walked up the place I was sitted "Sheba, you have to be happy with what you are he said". I looked up to him with a smile and said "I'm happy just a little disappointed that's all". After a while of sitting quietly, Gideon stood up on his feet and started transforming into funny animals I couldn't help but laugh as my ears wiggled. "You really know how to make yourself look stupid" I told him as he was doing all kind of crazy stuff. Gideon kept me company through out the rest of that day till it was dark. As he left that day, I went back to the cave to face my boring life with the boring company of my parents. I wish I had a brother like Gideon I won't be having the time to get myself worried but everything happens for a reason I said as I walked into the cave. Days have passed and we've not done anything in preparation for the Invasion, I informed Gideon that in the next training I'll take a bold step and reveal it to everyone starting with the warriors then we plan on our defense attack, Gideon gave his own contribution by suggesting we stop the king from partaking in THE BATTLE OF KINGS, the idea was good but at a second thought I ended up telling him that stopping that might result to a greater Apocalypse which we won't be able to dictate how it will come, how it will be like and the form it may take. He saw reasons with me and promised to stand by my side as I addressed everyone, he also added that I should address them with authority if not nobody will listen to me at all. I thanked him for his support and I escorted him to his cave. Gideon has a younger sister if about my age, I've only been hearing about her but I've not seen her so I decided to meet her that day. As we got to his cave, we met the sister training with a dummy, the sight was so funny as I remembered my very first training. "She also wants to be a warrior and she will soon meet with the commander to approve her Gideon said as he noticed I was wandering why she was fighting with a dummy". Getting close to her, Gideon gave her surprise attack which she defended to my surprise, "Your sis is really strong" I said to Gideon, he looked at me and smiled "you guys have one thing in common he said" "and what is that I asked" "stubbornness he said smiling as his sister couldn't help but to smile too". She introduced herself to me as Verna and she went ahead to cut me short while I was about to introduce myself saying that she knows me already. The both of us talked for a very long time that day as she kept telling me that I was her role model. I didn't even notice that it was getting very late. She was as lively as her brother. As the cloud became darker, I had no choice but to take my leave before my parents starts getting worried about me since it's now there hobby to be getting worried about me. Verna didn't want me to leave but she couldn't do anything about it, as I was leaving, she asked me to visit her some other time. Gideon escorted me to some point and I completed the remaining distance alone. As I got to my cave, I met my parents worried as usual. I told them if my whereabout and went inside to get some rest. The whole field was very quite, you can hear the melodious sound of the Ravens as they hover around the sky, the warriors were waiting patiently to get to hear what Gideon and I had to say. The crowd all staring at me like they are ready to attack me almost discouraged me but the fact that it's for the good of the Devan race as a whole, I gathered courage and boldly addressed them. I told them of the doom that will befall on us after THE BATTLE OF KINGS, how the princess will be captured, tortured and molested which will later result to a great war which I called the Rygnores Invasion that will end our race. After I was done addressing them, there was a great noise of laughter, howl, roar and many were beating there chest with there folded hands rhythmically as they mocked me. Not letting what they are doing to discourage me, I went ahead to asking the ones that are with me should stay behind while the rest should leave. To my greatest surprised a very great number of them left some transformed and flew away, the others walked away leaving Gideon, I and six other warriors with the names; Alpha, Dagon, Tiger, Jack, Samson and Mike. I was a bit happy as I came closer to them showing my gratitude for there support. They all had there various questions as to how I got to know about it and how true it is. Gideon helped me in explaining everything to them in details and immediately he was done, Dagon a very hefty Devan who was referred to as the one who had the body of the gods made it clear to us that he only accepted to stand by me because he just wanted to be security concious nothing else, while the rest said they believed me because our elders respects me and they all assured that we will fight and win. I engaged them in a discussion as to how to go about the Apocalypse coming, they all became silent with various thoughts running through there minds. After some moments of silence, Mike suggested we stop the King from partaking in the Battle as Gideon suggested but I gave him the same reason I gave to Gideon and he actually concored with me. I was happy with there confidence but I had doubt in me. I trusted my instincts that the Invasion will come but I feared that we will not win but I didn't disclose my fears with anyone, I buried it and was ready to face anything coming no matter what.
