Claire
The next day, I had to go to school. I sighed heavily when I realized that and groaned in frustration. The school was so good till a few days back!
As I went out of my house, I noticed Joe left a message on the table. I went and read it.
“I’ll not be able to drop you at school today… I had to go for some important work. However, you have grown up so you can get a bus or a cab and go by yourself. Take care and don’t get hurt.
Your brother
Joe.”
I smiled a little. At least finally he thinks I have grown up! I like his pampering, but I’d like to be thought of like a grown-up too!
I sighed and went out of the house. As I was on my way to the school, suddenly someone grabbed me from behind. I yelled but the cloth was kept tied to my mouth and slowly, I fainted.
I couldn’t even know who… kidn*pped me.
---
I woke up and looked around. The place was completely unfamiliar to me. I felt a sharp pain in my head. As I tried to touch my head, I realized my hands were tied.
I panicked. As soon as I was about to shout for help, a door opened from behind. I knew it because of the sound it made: as I clearly don’t have eyes behind my back.
That person removed the cloth or tape, whatever it was, from my mouth. I immediately stuttered. “I… who are you?”
He didn’t answer. I was sure it was a guy by the cologne he wore. After a few minutes, he came in front of me.
I was shocked. I was… terrified.
“Ace?”
My face paled as he smirked. He looked different. A lot different than he usually looked. He wore the same clothes as he normally does, but his cologne was different. His aura was dangerous and the smirk on his face meant demise.
“Yes, it is me, Claire,” he smirked more.
“What… What are you doing?”
“You don’t think that cheating on me would be left unpunished, right?”
“You… you said… that… you were letting me go this one time…”
“I did say it but,” He looked into her eyes. “I have experienced that if you let someone get away with a murder once, he will commit it again for sure.”
“I…”
“Now I don’t wanna punish you harder, Claire and I will if you do it again so why not have a lesson right now?”
“I… I promise, Ace… I won’t…”
I stuttered. I was petrified by what was happening. Even though I hated him so much, I was never THIS afraid of him.
“I wish that changed things, but sadly it doesn’t.”
“Ace, what are you gonna do?” I looked at him and asked with all my might.
“Nothing. I am not gonna harm you. I just wanna let you know a few things. Let me untie you first.” He went behind me and untied my rope.
I stood up and went a few steps away from him, scared. He looked at my movements and sighed. “You’re looking at me as if I am a murderer.”
“Can you stop repeating… that word?”
“Are you afraid?” he took a step towards me.
“No! I am so happy right now!” I replied sarcastically. He sighed.
“Look, I am not gonna harm you. Now act like a good girl and come here.”
I hesitated, of course. When I didn’t move, he came to me and took my hand. I looked at him a little scared. He dragged me out of the room.
The place was quiet. “Where are we?” I asked him.
His hand was unexpectedly warm. I couldn’t help but feel the urge to hold it back. Maybe it was just immature teenage attraction, but it was happening to me.
“This is my place. Once you see this, I hope you figure out what you are gonna do.”
His words sent a shiver down my spine. I was scared when the lights suddenly turned on. I closed my eyes in fear.
“Open your eyes.”
As my eyelids opened, I saw the big hall in front of me. Everyone was working. How could they work in such darkness till now?
I didn’t think of that but rather focused on them and their work. Everyone was doing their work quietly. They carried a few things here and there: some were carrying a few documents, some carried… ammunition and some were talking secretly.
I looked at Ace to interpret his emotions.
“Everyone!” he shouted and everyone looked at him and stopped their work. They formed a line and stood just in front of us, of course, still down in the hall.
“I hope you know who she is.”
Their eyes shifted to me. I looked down as I felt awkward.
“I hope you can introduce yourself to her in the best and kindest way possible.”
I looked at him and then at the crowd of the people: and suddenly the lights went off. When I looked up at the lit-up screen of a big TV, my eyes screamed pain.
