Chapter 9: he and… She?

Joe
I went out of my room and sat in the living room. The main door opened slowly and I looked keenly at it, as Claire walked in and closed the door. She hasn’t noticed me.
She looked towards me and was shocked. “Where were you?” I asked, interestingly.
“Ah… nothing, nowhere”
“You are weird today” I laughed. “You went out without reason?”
“Yeah, just some…” she came to me and sat beside me. “Fresh air?”
“Sure? Did you meet someone?” I smirked.
“Ah, Joe!” She was a little red. “You speak anything!”
she laughed. “I don’t think I am wrong”
“Haha but you really got someone otherwise why would you hide the reason?”
“I am not hiding,” she sighed. “I am just not telling”
I rolled my eyes. “Who is heeee” I dragged my words. “Tell me”
“Really Joe, no one!” she sighed loudly. “I really needed some fresh air!”
“Oh okay” I laughed. “As you say”
“Yep”
“So, what are you up to now?”
“Umm” she looked around. “Maybe I will go and study”
“Alright, go”
She smiled and nodded. “I’ll see you later! Bye”
“Bye”
She went to her room and I sighed. There was something more that was going on.
It is not like I wanna control her. She is mature enough and everything that has happened with us, I know that she is smart too.
But it is still my duty to make sure that the person is good enough for her. I don’t want her to get hurt.
I went out of the house and looked around to see if I could find anyone. There was no one, so I went inside and went to my room.
Maybe there was someone or maybe it was just fresh air anyway.

Claire
I went inside my room and sat down. I sighed loudly.
First that Ace f****d up my mind then Joe started asking questions that I didn’t wanna answer. I know I shouldn’t hide anything from Joe but I really have to figure out what Ace wants now.
I don’t wanna involve him in something stupid because I know he can go to any limits to save my happiness and I am also mature enough. I can make my decisions now.
I took out my phone.
“Your brother sure doesn’t believe you. He was checking on you” I read a message from Ace.
“What?” I asked him.
“I saw him, he came out and searched if someone was there”
“And he didn’t see you?”
“I was in my house, standing at the balcony”
“Oh”
“He really shouldn’t be interfering with your life so much!”
“How does that concern you, Ace?” I wrote.
“Yu know it”
“And you know that it means nothing because I never said yes”
“Well…” I could almost see him smirk. “Now you will”
“You dream well”
“You are my girlfriend and you see… you’ll know that tomorrow”
“What are you talking about?”
He left my message on seen. For some reason, my heart was beating fast. I didn’t know what he was gonna do or what he wanted.
I know I said something wrong and that he was mad about it. Is he gonna take revenge or something?
“Hey!” I messaged him again but it was seen and left.
I know I can’t get any reply from him this way. I didn’t wanna call him or anything, so I decided to see it tomorrow itself.
He can’t do anything that bad. Maybe he will just act like my boyfriend but it doesn't matter because everyone knows that I have no boyfriend.
I sighed and laid down. I just wanna sleep. I will study later.

The next day
I woke up and yawned. Yesterday was a tiring day.
Tiring still because all I thought about when I woke up was Ace. I mean, this is going insane now. I can’t just think about him like this! I shouldn’t!
I went to the bathroom and did a brush. I know I will be okay soon!
I saw the time and then hurried to go to the school. I wanted to be good and real. I didn’t wanna fear Ace but I was scared. What was he gonna do? Or rather, what did he do?
Will he try to make my high-school life hell?
I felt so heavy thinking about it all, so I went into the kitchen and prepared my breakfast. I ate out and headed towards the school.
I know. I can deal with it.
Whatever it is.
