Chapter 19: Protective

When we entered the class, I was really scared. This Ace really has some reputation around here. But didn’t no one know about him and the principal’s relationship? How did the guard know?

I was quite confused. The teacher looked at us and got furious.

“Why the hell are you two so late!?” She yelled at the top of her lungs. I looked down in embarrassment, but Ace stepped in front of me.

He got a hold of my hand and kept me behind him as if protecting me.

“We were at the Principal’s office.”

“Oh and that is something you’re proud of?” The teacher asked after seeing the brave and confident look on Ace’s face.

“Yes, apparently, he praised us.”

“Praised you for what?”

Ace looked at me and I was scared. I was bad at lying. Well, not really bad, but I didn’t know what he was up to. After all, he was so unpredictable all the time.

“For… uh…” He thought for a second. “She will tell you.”

My eyes widened as I looked at him with a ‘I wanna kill you’ look and then looked at the teacher. I smiled awkwardly and stuttered, “For… the best… dancer! And a singer! Well, he’s the singer!”

Everyone looked at us confused and even Ace made a ridiculing face. He smirked. “True.”

“Woah, we never knew Ace sang and you danced. How about you entertain the entire school on this event planners day and I will forgive you both?” The teacher smiled wickedly and I looked at Ace with a kind of sorry look, but he just smirked.

I didn’t know why I was sorry, though. He was the one to put me in such a condition in the first place!

“Sure, miss Lancy.” Ace took my hand and went to our seat after replying. I was so embarrassed. Why was he acting like this? Why do so much ‘public affection’!? Everyone was looking at us and I hated people’s eyes on me!

“Why did you agree!?” I asked him as we sat down but he smirked and took out his books. Then he kept them on the table and started studying.

I was so frustrated!

“Ace!” I whisper-yelled.

“You really can’t sit for a few minutes without talking to me, can you?” he smirked and said sarcastically.

I was embarrassed immediately and looked down. I didn’t even know why I was looking for a reply for him. I don’t care!

“And about your question, I should ask you. Dance and singing?”

“Well…”

He chuckled and looked at the teacher. “Now you should study, nerd.”

“I am not a nerd!”

“Well, that means you definitely are.”

“I am not--”

“Can you just study?” he smirked again.

I groaned in frustration and started studying, which I obviously couldn’t focus on. Why do bad people have to be so handsome?

Not that I am saying he is, but…

He actually had blackmailed me with my brother’s name! I hate him! I hate him so much, I can not express my anger!

After the classes were done with, it was finally dispersal. I was excited to drag my a*s down the school gate and finally back to the house… but Ace never leaves me alone.

When we came out of the school, Ace took my hand without any worries and dragged me to his car. “Get in.”

“Where are we going?” I asked him. He didn’t reply.

“Do you really think I will tell you? Like, really? Are you that dumb?”

I didn’t answer but just sighed. That devilish smirk didn’t leave his lips as I saw him from the rear view mirror as he started driving.

Somehow, his hair fell perfectly on his forehead and that smirk on his lips made him look really good. I didn’t wanna look at him at all but for a moment, I was mesmerized.

When I realized it, I looked away immediately. I am really bad to feel attracted to someone like him. In all this, I didn’t bother where he was taking me at all.

When the car stopped, I looked out of the car. It was a big house.

“Is this your house?” I asked the obvious. He got out of the car and opened the door for me.

“Yes.”

He took me out by my hand. I was really scared right now.

“Why… are we here?”

“You’ll know.” 

“Hey hey! No! I won’t go--”

“You will.”

“I won’t--”

He leaned towards me and kept his thumb on my lips. Then he murmured in my ears. “You will if you don’t want me to pick you and carry you. And oh yeah! Not to mention, drop you anywhere I want.”
