REJECTED MY NEW JOB.
Following the devastating news that I heard earlier, I had actually chosen to keep to myself throughout. Not like I even had anyone to talk to.
Since it was a new day, I didn't need to allow any incident of the past to weigh me down, so I decided to brighten up.
"Dear Becky, what will be, will be." I encouraged myself, as I walked into my bathroom to take my bath and also freshen up.
It was going to be the dawn of a new day for me, and I really needed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that I deserved to be part of that company.
After I was done bathing, I walked towards my old wardrobe, to select any of the good clothes that I could find there. I was able to see a white floral gown that was given to me as a birthday gift by my dad.
I wore them down, and picked up old sandals. Now, I know that my time as a staff member in that bar was over. That manipulative supervisor could have all that bar, all to herself.
In no time, I was already on my way to the office. I made sure not to miss any important documents, as I didn't have a lot of money to get to and fro.
After a forty-five-minute ride, I finally got to the gigantic office complex that housed many of the most sophisticated billionaires and millionaires.
Looking around the whole area, I could see different fleets of cars of different brands lined up. It was obvious that each of the staff of this company had a car of their own.
I prayed that it'd be my own fate, soon.
After asking the supposed gate man about the entrance of the office, he pointed to a big glass door, and offered to take me to that entrance.
"Thank you." I appreciated his kind gesture.
He nodded, and turned back to leave.
Immediately I got inside the reception, I was greeted by the most sophisticated office design that I had ever come across. It screamed luxury and so much wealth.
"Good morning, ma'am." The receptionist greeted me with a warm smile.
"Good morning." I responded with a smile, as she stretched forth her right hand for a handshake.
She smiled for a while, before saying anything else to me.
"You must be Miss Becky White...!" She said with a smile.
"Oh yes, I am." I responded.
She picked up the office telephone, and called someone. She told the person that I was already at the reception, and that they should hurry up.
"Pardon any inconveniences at all, ma'am. "You can have some coffee while waiting for them to come pick you up," She said, but I politely declined, and she offered me a seat immediately.
I went towards the left-hand side of the reception, and sat on the extreme of the chair there.
All I could do, was to marvel at the beauty and well-detailed architectural intelligence that the interior of the reception was designed with.
Whoever that must've done this job, must've been a professional expert.
Just as I was still admiring. A beautiful blonde-haired woman with blue eyes walked up to my side.
"Miss White, you can go with her. "She'd be the one to take you to the secretary's office." She said, and I obliged immediately.
Honestly, I knew that I really needed to be polite to them to avoid losing this golden opportunity.
Soon, we were inside the elevator, and I had to compose myself to avoid giving my naiveness away.
In no distant time, we got to the office of the supposed secretary. He was a man whom I thought should be in his late twenties.
"Hello, Miss Becky..." He said with a smile, and I returned it.
"Good morning, sir. "It's my pleasure to be here," I said with a smile. He stretched out his hand, and we exchanged pleasantries.
The way his eyes were roaming and surveying my body wasn't something to be comfortable about, but I ignored it. Maybe he was just trying to know me better.
"So, after going through your curriculum vitae and cover letter, I knew that you'd really be the best fit for the job." He said to me warmly, and I smiled in an uneasy way.
I didn't know why I was beginning to feel uncomfortable.
"Thank you very much for choosing me, sir. "I'm honored." I appreciated him again, and this time around, I could see him biting his lips.
What was he up to?
"You're always welcomed, beautiful damsel," he replied.
Now, I kept mute, as I was waiting for him to initiate a conversation.
"Ummm, about the job sir, when am I beginning?" I finally broke the silence.
"Now. "Just now..." he replied.
"Thank you very much, sir. I can't wait to resume," I said with a smile.
"Me too. "I can't wait for you to begin in earnest. "However, there's still one final test for you to overcome," he said with a mischievous smile.
One thing was very certain: I knew that this man was up to something.
"What's the test, sir?" I asked him with a smile.
He looked m
e in a weird manner again, like he was scanning my entire body. I didn't know what to say or make of it.
"You have to warm my bed..." He said with a voice filled with mischief, and I stared at him with a puzzled expression.
What did he mean by I had to warm his bed?
"I don't understand you, sir," I said to him.
"Come off it, Becky. "You're not a child anymore. "I have a bed inside my office that I would want you to warm." He said with a raised voice this time and wanted to hold my hands, but I scratched his right hand with my sharp nails.
"I'd do no such thing," I replied with a mean voice.
"Then, bye-bye. "You can leave now." He mumbled wick
edly.
Now, I was caught up in the middle of a dead end.
For the sake of Mum, should I do this or not?
