Chapter 22The drive was taking forever. Josie shifted in the giant backseat of the SUV. How could they have left well before everyone, yet still not even be in DC? It was almost dinner time. Their lunch had been leftovers from the party, eaten while on the road. Yet Amanda asked every three seconds for a rest stop. While Brian had teased her the first couple times, even he’d stopped with the banter. He drove with his hands perfectly poised at ten and two, his back stiff. “Pull over,” Amanda said. “Again?” he asked. “I think something is wrong.” Josie stopped rehearsing all of her grievances in her mind.
