Chapter 7

Jenna POV I sighed in frustration as Charles went on blabbering about the new friend he made. He won't stop talking since we got back from the mall I sighed slamming my wet hands on the kitchen sink gently, turning to him, I held my waist with an exhausted look "Charlie hunny, can you please keep quiet for a minute?" I pleaded "But...." "Take these to the dining" I said passing a few plates to him I looked at me like he knew I was sending him away, reluctantly he took the plates, dashing out of the kitchen "Be careful with those!" I yelled behind him but he was already out of sight Sighing I walked to the gas cooker, my mind drifted back to earlier today "She died, five years ago" His words kept ringing in my head. I shut my eyes as my heart squeezed in hurt Even against my will, I couldn't help but admit he looked handsome, as handsome as he was five years ago. Five years ago before he decided to throw out marriage under the bus by cheating with a low life b***h! "Mommy!!" Charles yelled and I jolted back to reality, I turned to him "What?" I snapped Shit! I didn't mean to "I'm sorry" I whispered, his brows were dipped as he looked at me in concern I lifted him up by the waist, placing him on the kitchen island. I stroked his hair with a smile on my lips Charles is the main reason I'm living, he's my joy, my pride, he's my everything And he's basically the real reason I have to get out of Los Angeles, I'll call Linda tomorrow. Maybe I can go over to Massachusetts Starting afresh wouldn't be a problem, as long as I had my son with me "I love you. And I'm sorry" I said and he smiled I kissed his forehead, not waiting for his reply. "Yuck mom, I'm not a child anymore" he scrunched his face causing me to chuckle My eyes widened as I realized... "My food!" I rushed to the cooker, turning it off. I sighed when I realized it didn't burn "Alright, let's head to the dining" I announced, dropping Charles on the ground I passed him a bowl of fruits while I carried the pot, we both left the kitchen. "You can't be frustrating me every morning Charles. Charles!!" I yelled "I'm almost done" he hollered back from the toilet I sighed placing my palm on my forehead, migraine- I could feel myself having a migraine, my head was literally aching. Is this a new habit of his? Making sure I'm late every morning? I heard the bathroom door open and he walked out "Did you even flush?" I asked walking past him into the bathroom, I shook my head as I flushed the toilet "You have to flush the toilet whenever you use it Charles. I can't keep repeating one thing over and over" "I'm sorry" "And your hands?" He raised his hands to me, indicating he washed them "Good boy, now run to the car. I have a meeting with an investor in twenty minutes. I can't be late" I said grabbing his backpack while he made his way out of the house My heart raced as I knew I had a meeting with Kai, I hope I'm able to control myself Hold on, why wouldn't I be able to control myself. Its not like I'm in love with him or something I wouldn't have met him if he wasn't an investor who planned on expanding the art class. We're not married again, so he literally means nothing I just need to call Linda and get the hell out of Los Angeles. I dropped Charles' backpack at the back seat and entered the driver's seat, he was already seated with his seat belt on I sighed in relief, luckily I didn't scream today about his seat belt I plan to call Linda once I'm done with the meeting with Kai. I need to leave here before he comes after my son "We'll be leaving Los Angeles Charlie" I started the car "What?!" He practically yelled, I stared ahead, not sparing him a glance "What do you mean?" He asked again "I mean what I mean Charles, say goodbye to your friends because we'll be leaving in two days" I replied "That impossible! I can't just leave. What about my friends? School?" "I don't care about that right now alright? You have to say goodbye cos we're leaving, I don't care if you like it or not" I said, my voice high as it demanded authority "Hmph" He huffed folding his arms angrily, his little lips formed a cute angry pout but I didn't care Coaxing Charles isn't something I plan on doing at this moment The drive was silent until we got to school. "Be careful" I said after Charles but he didn't reply as he took his backpack and walked into his class I exhaled walking towards the principal's office "Jen, quick" Paul half yelled and I increased my pace, walking quickly to him "Good morning. Is the investor in yet?" I asked and he shook his head "No. You're a minute early" he stated, checking his wristwatch "Thank you" I exhaled in relief as I knocked on the principal's door "Come in" he hollered from inside and we both entered We greeted him and he nodded while we took out seats, waiting for Kai, I mean Mr Storm The principal excused himself and left, coming back a minute later with Kai behind him I and Paul stood up. "Good morning Mr Storm" "Hope you had a great night" Paul smiled and Kai nodded lazily Just like yesterday, he didn't spare me a glance. I chuckled inwardly, he really doesn't love me, no- he never loved me I already made my decision and it was final. I'm leaving Los Angeles, for good. I'm leaving for anywhere far. Anywhere but here, I can't tolerate being in the same space with a cheat No. Never.
