Chapter 26: EscapeMrs. Brewster allowed Christina to spend more and more time in the kitchen. The girl could not learn, but she could cook and bake, sparing her the expense of another salary. Her December letter to the Rolfe's extolled Christina's homemaking skills. This arrangement was proving quite profitable. Christina didn't mind.
