Prologue

* The forest was dark and silent, save for the rustling of leaves underfoot as a lone figure made her way through the trees. She wore a long, flowing dress that billowed around her as she walked, her hair a wild tangle of curls. She looked like a goddess of the night, beautiful and dangerous. She came to a clearing and stopped, her gaze fixed on a shadowy figure that stood before her. "You called, Ava?" the figure said, his voice deep and gravelly. Ava stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. "I need your help," she said, her voice low and urgent. "Bella West and Aiden Lambert must be destroyed. They are a threat to everything we've built, to our way of life. I can't do it alone." The figure regarded her for a moment, his eyes gleaming in the darkness. "And what do I get in return?" he asked. Ava stepped even closer, until she was almost touching him. "Anything," she whispered. "I'll do anything you want." The figure chuckled, a sound that echoed through the clearing. "Very well," he said. "I'll help you destroy them. But know this, Ava. Once I've helped you, you'll owe me a debt. And I'll come to collect." Ava nodded, her heart racing with excitement and fear. She knew the risks, but she was willing to take them. "Thank you," she said. "I won't forget this." The figure simply nodded, then disappeared into the shadows. Ava stood alone in the clearing, a sense of foreboding creeping over her. She knew that with the figure's help, she could bring down Bella and Aiden.  Their days were always numbered after all.  *
