TWO
I was an i***t sitting in the car in the driver's seat, my mind was a mess of what had happened. Who did that thing, why does it has to be my mommy? Why do they have to kidnap mommy for what reason?
'You have three days to save her if you can hahaha
Remember me when you see me.'
What does the message want to convey? Who does that refer to? The environment around me and Nacy was full of questions, we couldn’t find an answer.
The driver-side door opened and Nacy entered with red eyes. I knew she was crying inside the police station.
“They will make a way to find and find out who is behind the taking of mom, there are police who went to the house and they have already started investigating earlier. Two, I’m so sorry,” she sniffed.
No words came out of my mouth. Earlier my mind was running to where to who might have the motive to do that thing and I only had one thought. Margarete, she is the only person who is mad at our mother, since they were teenagers they have not been fine with each other, and I don't know the reason for it.
"I need to sleep, Nacy." My voice was emotionless, my gaze was still on the road.
I could see in the peripheral view her reaction that she could not believe what I said. “You don't seem to care what happened to mommy, Two. I can't believe you,” she said angrily as she started the car and left the area.
Nacy waited for my answer until we reached the condo building and until we got out of the car she got no answer from me. I hurt her with the silence I give, even if I want to ease her heart I can’t even bother to do that. I hate to admit it but I am the worst at that thing, comforting someone.
In the elevator she rode meanwhile in the former passage I was passing, the long staircase to our condo floor. I feel like there are irons inside my shoes that are too heavy to walk. Even though I want to call Shackie, I don't want her to worry and add her to my problem. I feel so bad, is my suspicion correct? Will Margarette do that to her old friend even if she's angry with mommy? I do not know.
I stopped walking, I need to talk to her now. Sleeping won’t help me at all.
I went back where I was until I reached the lobby and walked out of the condo building. I waited a few minutes for a ride but there was not even one taxi pass, biting my lips as I stood waiting while restless. I can’t wait patiently here! I shouted at my thoughts and looked at the car that stopped in front of me and the window opened. Then seeing a smiling man's face. I wondered who he was until I clearly saw him.
"Hale!" I exclaimed in shock.
"Hello, Number, long time no see, miss me?" he said happily with a big smile on his lips, I could see his even and white teeth.
I can’t believe he’s in front of me, it’s been three years since he’s gone away from a place he never told me where.
"Still surprised that I'm here?"
I only nodded. I just watched him get out of the red car. He moved so fast that he approached me and I didn’t expect a tight hug from him.
"I miss you so much, Number," he said. I hugged her back and I couldn’t stop the tears from falling in my eyes.
The only thing I need is a simple hug for comfort. I didn't cry because I was so happy that he was here, just when we gave up on ourselves to suppress our feelings, you will fall on your own even if you don't want to.
This is the second time that he has seen me cry.
"Number, tell me what happened?" his voice was full of worry. He caresses my back while I look like a child who looks like my candy was stolen which made me cry. I want to stop my shameful behavior but I can't. It hurts so much. I'm confused as to why.
"Sssshhh, you'll just cry over that. I understand,” his brotherly words at me made me feel better. Haze is the one person I am wishing to be my real brother.
My whole attention was on the road as Hale drove quietly. Silence intervened between the two of us. I love the silence but it is a frustrating one.
I cleared my throat so he looked at me for a moment and turned his attention back to the road. I want to know where he will take me.
"Hale, thank you." The word came out of my mouth.
"Miracle, Number, you said thank you to me again, the second time," he joked, making me smile.
"I shouldn't have said thank you, it seems a bad thing." I stared at him.
"I know, I know," he said, mimicking my voice. I stared at him as he smiled. "Won't you mind where we are going?"
"Where?" I raised my voice.
"I don't know, I'm just driving, where do you want to go?"
I glanced at him. "To your mother," I said seriously.
He raised an eyebrow at what I said. The look of disbelief reflected his handsome face. He knows everything about the issue between our mothers.
"Why?" he asked me.
"I want to ask him something, there's nothing wrong with my actions, right?" I have no desire to reap from him.
He nodded slowly as if he got it but I know he didn't. "Ok," he shrugged in response.
"I'll tell you after what really happened, Hale." I smiled at him.
"Don't kill me with curiosity, Number, I hate that." He winked at me before turning into a road.
"When did you come home, Hale?" I asked looking out the window. I'm trying to remember if I have gone this route before.
"This morning, Dad is sending me home here. He has an important business for me to do. How is Lyn? How is your mommy?"
I could not answer right away. It takes me a minute before I spoke. "What business are you talking about, I know? Have you met your cousin? Have you visited Shackie? You know she misses you so much."
"I haven't visited her, maybe later until you share with me what really happened and why you acted that way. My Dad wanted me to take good care of his friend's daughter. We're looking for someone, a friend of Dad's friend's daughter. My cousin and I met at grandma's house earlier, he's taller than me and he still loves eating jelly ace. Still immature," Haze chuckled at the last thing he mentioned.
"Hajin really loves that," I agreed with the last thing he said.
"We're close to my mom's house, I'm afraid to tell this but I don't want to see mom right now. She's not in the mood to see me after her misunderstanding about certain things," he said with a grin.
We stopped in front of a large metal gate as we boarded. The outside of it still hasn't changed the last time I went. I nodded to Hale before I opened the car door.
"I'll just wait here." He looks at me. I noticed the phone he was holding in his hand. A woman I can't figure out who, it looks like she's sleeping in the photo I caught a glimpse of. Looks like he hasn't closed the gallery before.
I simply nodded and closed the door and stepped closer to the gate doorbell. I caught sight of Hale's car moving and parked on the side a few meters away from his mom's house. What could be the reason why her mother is not on good terms? As far as I know, Hale is closer to his mom than his father.
I made a few presses when the small gate door opened. I don't know what it's called, just like that. A maid came out, the woman was wearing a white and black maid dress that was simple but looked comfortable to wear. A big smile was painted on her thin lips.
"Who are they?" she politely asked.
"I'm Two Abragan, is your boss there?" I said casually without giving a smile to her.
"Yes, come inside. Ma'am has been waiting for you for a while."
It wasn't new to me that Hale's mother knew I was here. I don't know-how.
I followed the maid. Aunt Margaret's house is big, it's two stories. She loves luxurious things so her house is so beautiful, it's more in glasses. Even her porch has glass as a wall and she loves blue, in all shades of blue are the color of her house, from walls that are cool blue to its roof in dark blue color, some glass walls and windows are colored in royal blue and crystal blue, except for her see-through glasses in the porch. She is not fond of plants so her area is almost bricks, there are very few plants on the side of the wall.
Upon entering the house the maid made me sit on one of the couches of the large living room. Dark blue in abstract design the couches as well as the glassed centered table. There are magazines in the bottom container of the central table. In front of me is a large flat-screen TV attached to the wall, and below is where the DVD player and modern speaker are placed. The aircon is cold so my body shivered.
The maid returned with a teapot and two teacups. She placed it on the table carefully when she left after what was done. I turned my attention to the approaching footsteps, and my eyes caught sight of Aunt Margarette, beautiful in her navy blue dress holding a book in her right hand. I can't find joy in her expression in seeing me. She got a superior stare and walk, even her face shows authority. A woman was full of confidence.
