MAGGIE
My foot was moving quickly down the stairs when I saw the incoming car outside the window. I know it was Mister Haze who was in the car that came.
I caught him entering the big door, noticing the broad smile on his lips. I smiled at him when he noticed me and he also returned one for me and I was restless in the room when he left. I know no one here except him.
"Mr. Haze. Where did you come from?" I asked stopping in front of him.
"Visiting my friend, are you okay here? Have you eaten yet?" he smirked as he said those words. He looked me in the eyes.
"Yes, the maid had taken me to the dining area for lunch, have you eaten yet?" He shook his head. "Why? Didn't your friend invite you to eat? Is that so here? Friends don't feed their friends?" My forehead furrowed and it even more furrowed as he laughed.
"Nevermind. I'm still full, babe. Have you been around the house yet?" I couldn’t take my gaze away from his eyes. Just now I noticed that his eyes were so beautiful, I seemed to be in a sea in the middle of a hot day.
A shake of my head as my response.
"Come on, I'll take you on a tour of my palace," he said at once, winking at me.
I was shocked as he pulled me in the other direction. I secretly smiled. We stopped at a door. He opened it and many books in the bookcase appeared in front of me.
"Whose is this?" I asked in curiosity as I looked at the books in a row.
"This is the home library room, my mom loves books so she made it. She was always here then, she loved reading."
"By the way, the size of this place looks like I'm in the Odessa library. It's so big and the number of books and designs here is amazing. You know I love to read but my father doesn't want me to read useless books." The tone of my voice growled.
"I understand. My mom doesn't want me to be like my dad even if that's what I want. They want the things they think are good for us even if that's what we don't want."
I looked at him, he was looking at the book he was holding being opened. Is he sad? Apparently not eh.
"You know, I want to be a writer. My father scolded me when he found out because writing doesn't suit me. He said I need to prepare myself to be more desirable to my future husband," I told him while staring at the books, a book that is foreign in my eyesight for I could not understand the title.
“Well, that is how our life is aligned. I am more apprehensive of my mother than my dad who had a soft heart but extraordinary brain,” he said with a proudness in his last line.
"Mine is my father." I sighed. "If your father is right, then I am hoping I can find her." Suddenly my face became sad because until now I still doubted if what Delrux was saying was true.
Haze put back the book on the shelf and walked in my direction. “My father didn't lie, and he trusted you in finding Thraia. My father didn't trust anyone unless he could see that they could. There's nothing wrong in hoping and believing," he said in a subtle tone.
He is right. And I need to do my job in finding Thraia before the Queen could. One of the things bothering me and made me upset is the idea of how a mother does that to her only child and only flesh.
After the king mysteriously died when it was Thraia's 12th birthday, she then died a week ago, and I attended the funeral of my close friend. At first, I could not believe it and laughed at the idea that she was dead but upon seeing her funeral, I just realized back then that she was. And now, it turns out she is alive, living in another world.
"Are you alright?" Haze question, taken me back to the present.
I realize that I am holding the book tightly in my hand. “Yes,” my response took me seconds.
“It seems not. Did I tell you something that bothers you?” His inquisitiveness on me.
Shaking my head, and stare at him on my side with a smile. “No, you did not, I am thinking of something, Mister Haze. But now, I need you to teach me.”
His brows furrowed. “Teach you of what?” But there's a curiosity in his tone.
“I need to learn more the language here and the other languages for I only know some little words, that won't help me in finding Thraia,” I said in determination. "Don't worry I could easily learn it, just a simple guide and help."
Haze nodded. “That would be perfect, babe. But too bad, I am not that good at languages but I could help a little.” Then a smile curved in his beautiful face.
I would have said something when he added, "First, we need to eat lunch and I am hungry."
The foreign sound soothed my ears, trying to figure out what it means but I liked the beat of it as I stared at the different nepone in my hand. Mister Haze handed me this and guided me on how it functions. I have taken times finding where it has a hologram but was disappointed in knowing it was not. This one I had is so different from what I have in Odessa, this one is more outdated and you can't even have a hologram to type in and video call. And it's a rectangular shape, not like a round shape where you can press one button and a hologram will come out.
With a sigh, I leaned back at the divan and inhaled the rose fragrance in my room. Mister Haze told me to stay here in my room. A while ago, I saw a red car enter the premises, and a stunning woman went out, while we were in the library as he taught me the earthean language. But my excitement of knowing everything ceased when I told him about the red car, as I was looking at the window.
Who is that woman? Maybe, it's Mister Haze's fiance. I lazily roamed my eyes in my surroundings and stopped playing the music. My eyes halted at the plants placed outside the windows. The edges of my lips curved and lifted my hand with my pointer finger raised. A green glow went out on it. It's earthean, and I am the one in my room. No one will know what I am doing.
I sat straight and crossed my legs. As the plants bloom white flowers. I was amazed at what kind of plant it was, so I walked to the window and opened it. It has white small flowers, colored white. It does not have strong smells but its fragrance is so nice.
No one will notice the flower bloom, right? I abruptly closed the window and faced the door that went open. My heartbeat rapidly and the idea of someone noticing what I did made me cold. The woman who first took me into the house walked in with a tray of cookies and drinks.
“Sir told me to bring you this,” she said and placed it at the table at the side of the bed.
“Thank you,” I said, and pretended to smile at her. My hands were at the window sill, trying to hide in my small body the thing I did. "Anyway, can I ask you something?"
"Yes, Ma'am," she responded in a gentle voice. She stood, staring at me with her hand holding each other at her stomach.
“Who’s that woman? I mean, the visitor. Is that Mister Haze Fiance?” I don't know why I stuttered.
"You are wrong, Ma'am, it's Haze mother," she response, and smiled at me.
His mother? Why did Mister Haze not tell me?
“Oh,” I snouted, and stared at the tray. "Thank you."
"You are welcome, Ma'am, if you need anything, don't hesitate to tell me or call on the telephone," she said, pointing at the telephone she mentioned with a cord above the nightstand.
"Sure, I will."
She remained standing, and I am expecting her to leave. I was almost out of breath when she looked at my back. Did she see the flowers? Holding my breath I didn't look back at what she was looking at.
Then she went out without words, shutting the door. I was about to turn around when I noticed the door open again.
“I forgot to tell you, Ma’am, Sir Haze left with his mother,” she said, peeking her head on the doorway and closing the door again.
I took a deep breath when the woman left, I adjusted my seat and looked at the plant. I hope no one notices what I did. I go to bed near the side table and sit on the side. I took a light brown cookie with chocolate chips, I bit into it and tasted the wheat flour and chocolate combined in my buds, it’s so good.
I spent half my time eating and staring at the depleted orange juice. My throat dried, and I needed one. I turned my back, with my hands on the side, and stopped looking, and gaze at what the woman said, the telephone she mentioned earlier I took a deep breath and looked at the empty glass again.
I opened the kitchen door and found that no one was there. I also couldn't find the woman, and asking for anyone other than her made me shy, looking around the clean area, all the equipment was arranged, and even the black tiled counter was newly cleaned like you could see yourself in there, and I inhaled the lavender fragrance around and saw the faucet. Water! I turned it on and filled my glass.
I was about to drink it when someone spoke behind me. "That's not clean water to drink."
I turned to the left in time. The man opens the white rectangular object and takes out a glass jar with only water. The man who I first saw when I came here.
"This," he said with a smile and approached me. He was tall as if he and Mr. Haze were almost as tall.
"Thank you, Mister," I politely said as I let the man take the glass, he threw the water on the sink and replaced it with the water on the jar.
He handed me the glass with only cold water. “You are what of Haze? By the way, I am Hajin, Haze's cousin. Do you know where he is?”
“I am Mister Haze's friend, Lady Maggie,” I curtsied, creating a raise in the eyebrow of Mister Hajin. I drank the cold water, and now, my thirst is gone.
"Did you just do that?" Mister Hajin asked and gave me a questioning look.
"Yes," I nodded. "Mister Haze left with his mother."
“Oh, thank you,” he said and returned the jar inside the white rectangular thing. "I am glad to finally meet you, but I need to go now."
I was about to speak to ask him if he knew where Mister Haze was but he hurriedly left out the kitchen doorway.
I lowered the empty handle, cleaned it up, and set it aside on the side of the sink. I headed for the entrance door, and I noticed some of the maid's looks at me that gave me a smile and a nod.
I circled the sight outside where there was a stone path leading to the closed gate a few meters away from the big house, and on the side of it was a newly trimmed plant with small leaves clustered in quantity. I saw some servants cleaning the green grass and the plant near the house wallings.
I sat on one of the stairs, on the porch, inhaling the not-so-fresh air, but it will do well. My hands at my side, and staring at the sky above me.
How would I find Thraia if I was just here? Tomorrow morning I need to leave and so my journey is out there to find her. That's it! As of now, I will be waiting for Mister Haze because I need traveling things to find Thraia.
When will he go home?
