Aiden meets her

1143 Words
We didn't talk after coming back home. He left in a hurry and I was ordered to return to the underground. All night I kept tossing and turning with restlessness, the sudden hostility from Gelid had not only confused me but pained me a little too. Yet the moon in the sky remained unfazed by my agitation and within hours it had disappeared and the sun was up. I grunted as Nate pushed and rolled me off the bed. "NATE!" I screamed up at the top of my lungs, Getting only two hours of sleep and then waking up to this wasn't something I signed up for. "GET UP! GELID HAS ASKED FOR YOU?" -who? "Who is Belid?" I asked half asleep, eyes still closed. He can't possibly be talking about Gelid. Can he? "NOT BELID, GELID!" that woke me up, my eyes were wide open as I looked towards Nate. "You are messing with me, right? I told you last night-" "He isn't." Gabriel cutt me off. He still looked unbothered and continued reading his daily newspaper while on the other hand, Nate was for sure high on sugar. "He is expecting you right now so you shouldn't keep him waiting any longer, get ready and leave right now." I did as he told and left along with Baris who was there to make sure I reach him without any hindrance. "Are you here as my bodyguard or does he think I will run off when left alone?" I asked cautiously trying not to offend him yet choosing words that would get my point across. Baris smiled gently. "Aiden you might not understand now but after last night, you've awarded yourself with some enemies. Now we need you alive and in order for us to keep you breathing, these are the precautions we have to take," Although he had said I might not understand now, I perfectly did, I knew my family better than most, If I was the hurdle in their way, they wouldn't think twice before kicking me away. Our meeting was going to take place in Gelid's Fort, the same place where I met him for the first time. The same old lady welcomed us but didn't question our intentions this time. "You go in, I have somewhere to be." With a gentle tap on my shoulder, Baris turned around and left. I stood at the door and took a deep breath. "Go in, He doesn't like mortals so he wouldn't eat one." I have a feeling that what she said was meant to calm but it did the opposite. The door opened and I walked in. I was expecting an angry-looking Gelid to stand in his usual place, fuming over something I did wrong that only he knew what, but to my surprise, he wasn't even there. The place looked empty without him as if it had lost its charm but just as disappointment had started to create a void in me, my eyes fell on the chair behind his desk and I almost fainted from the scare. "You are here to meet Gelid?" The same lady I saw here that day spoke, obviously confused at my sudden intrusion. "Sir Gelid had asked me to come here. He wanted to talk about something." I stumbled over my words yet managed to pull out an explanation. Now she looked less puzzled and her lips stretched into a mischievous smile consequently. "Oh, I see. Why don't you sit here?" She pointed towards the sofa and I obliged. "He will be here soon. Wait for him, make yourself at home." She stood up from the chair and slowly dragged her feet across the floor and sat right across me. Five minutes have passed and her eyes still haven't left my face. I managed to avoid eye contact by looking everywhere but at her. "The sunlight keeps the room lighted." I tried to start a small talk to evade this distressing silence but only after the words had left my mouth, I realized how silly it sound. Now I know why people don't talk to me the second time. "It does, doesn't it?" she leaned forward and puts her chin in the palm of her hand. "No I mean it's good for health-" "Are you important to him?" her question surprised me to my core. Why did she ask me that? And what was the answer to it? It took me a minute to come back to my senses but I eventually did. "I don't know," I answered honestly. She looked satisfied and leaned back. "So it's okay if you die?" I hadn't even recovered from the previous question and she asked me another one that took me out completely. I glanced toward her expecting her to be laughing but to my surprise, she looked genuinely curious. "I guess not," I again answered honestly. "Perfect!" she smacked her hands together and stood up, "Let's go, we are going shopping." Wait, WHAT? I sat in the front and she was in the back seat. The driver had no emotions on his face and he looked completely unfazed by her presence, on the contrary, was DYING. was she planning to kill me? What if they were a cult? That would explain my lord, bowing and all the weird practices I had seen. The car stopped and we got out. "You go, ill call you when I need you," she instructed the driver and without a word, he pulled out and drove away. "Shake a leg sweetheart, we have somewhere to be," She announced over her shoulder and I started walking following her trail. we walked for a little while and entered a boutique. "Maam HOW ARE YOU?? It's been a while since your last visit. We were getting worried that you had forgotten us." A girl wearing a uniform exclaimed and quickly ran towards us. "I couldn't leave for some reason but as soon as I got the chance I came here. Now have you kept the dresses I told you about?" She asked and a girl who looked overly excited nodded, "Yess Maam, I'll bring them out right now." "Excellent!" she exclaimed and quickly turned towards me, "Baby boy why don't you sit here and be the judge?" I was going to protest but she hastily grabbed me by the shoulders and pushed me down on a couch. "You brought your friend this time?" The girl who was collecting clothes through different shelves stopped midway and asked. "Friend? what friend? He is my boyfriend. Chelsea meet Aiden." The lady whose name was still a mystery to me proclaimed loudly. I knew what she was doing, was the perfect recipe for a disaster that was bound to happen. The younger me just had no idea how much damaging this disaster was going to be.
