Forbidden Glances

The next morning, Avery’s apartment felt emptier than usual. The city’s roar seeped through the windows, but it was muted compared to the storm raging inside her. She hadn’t expected to see Elias last night, and certainly not to feel the pull he sparked—a dangerous, magnetic pull that lingered long after he’d left. Her phone buzzed. A text. Elias: Thinking about last night. You. A shiver ran down her spine. His simplicity, his directness—it was calculated, daring, and utterly intoxicating. She couldn’t help it; she typed back before she even realized it. Avery: Stop. She hit send and immediately regretted it. But she also knew he wouldn’t stop. He never did. By the time evening came, the city was painted in molten gold and shadows. Avery found herself wandering the streets, drawn like a moth to a flame she knew could burn her. And sure enough, there he was—leaning casually against a sleek black car outside a rooftop lounge, his gaze locking on her the instant she stepped into view. “You really don’t know when to stay away,” he said, a smirk tugging at his lips. “And you don’t know when to leave me alone,” she countered, trying to mask the heat in her voice. Elias stepped closer, invading her personal space deliberately. The air between them was taut, charged, heavy with unspoken promises. Her pulse hammered in her ears. Every time he moved, every glance, every subtle touch, it felt like a challenge—and an invitation. “I don’t want to leave you alone,” he murmured, voice low, dangerous. “Not tonight. Not ever, if I could help it.” Avery’s breath hitched. “Elias…” The warning in her tone was weak, barely holding back the tremor in her body. “Don’t fight it,” he whispered, leaning so close that his lips brushed her earlobe. The contact made her shiver violently. “You feel it too, don’t you? The desire… the craving?” Her knees threatened to buckle. Desire, yes—but so much more. Forbidden, electrifying, consuming. She tried to step back, but he moved with her, always a fraction ahead, always closing the space. “You’re playing a dangerous game,” she said, her voice breathless, trembling on the edge of surrender. “Maybe,” he admitted, “but I’ve always liked danger.” And then his hand found hers. A gentle brush at first, testing, teasing—but it sent fire shooting through her veins. She could barely think, barely breathe, caught in the gravity of him. The world around them blurred; only he existed—the shadow of a man who knew exactly how to ignite her body and mind. “Elias…” she whispered again, soft, pleading, warning. He cupped her face with one hand, thumb tracing the line of her jaw, eyes dark and commanding. “Avery, look at me. I won’t hurt you. Not unless you want me to.” Her heart raced, her mind screamed that this was wrong, forbidden, taboo—but her body didn’t care. Her body responded with an urgent need that made her gasp, arching toward him without realizing it. He smirked at her submission, the dominance in his gaze undeniable. “Good girl,” he murmured, leaning down so their lips were inches apart. “You’re mine tonight, whether you admit it or not.” Avery’s hands tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, and suddenly the world dissolved into heat, desire, and tension. Every brush of skin against skin, every inhale shared between them, was electric, erotic, and dangerous. “I shouldn’t—” she began, voice breaking, but he silenced her with a rough, possessive kiss that stole her words, her breath, her control. His hands moved over her body with deliberate precision—exploring, claiming, leaving trails of fire wherever they touched. Her nails dug into his shoulders, and she moaned, half in warning, half in surrender. She wanted to resist, to tell him no, but every nerve screamed yes. And when he finally pulled back, just slightly, his lips hovering over hers, his voice a low growl, Avery knew this was only the beginning. “Tonight,” he whispered, “you’re not going anywhere. Not until I decide.” And with that, he led her into the elevator, into the dark heart of the city, into a night she would never forget.
