First Touch

The city burned outside Elias’s window, lights glittering like stars scattered across black velvet. But inside his apartment, Avery was the only thing he could see.

She sat on the edge of the sofa, chest heaving, hair mussed from his kisses, her dress rumpled from his hands. Her lips were swollen, parted, her pupils wide with desire she didn’t dare name.

“You shouldn’t look at me like that,” Elias murmured, his voice low, predatory, as he stood before her.

“Like what?” she whispered, but her voice betrayed her. Trembling, wanting.

“Like you want me to ruin you.” His smirk was dark, dangerous, as he tilted her chin upward with a single finger. “Because, Avery… I will.”

Her breath caught. She should pull away. She should walk out before this crossed a line neither of them could uncross. But the heat in her core, the desperate ache in her body, overpowered reason.

“Say it,” he urged, thumb brushing across her lower lip. “Tell me you want this.”

Avery’s lips trembled. “I… I want this.”

That was all it took. Elias’s mouth crashed onto hers, fierce and demanding. His tongue slid against hers, claiming, devouring, making her moan into his mouth. His hands roamed her body with urgency, pushing the straps of her dress down, baring her shoulders. She shivered, not from the chill, but from the intensity of his touch.
