Chapter Sixteen
A week later…
First there were the busted pipes in Neil’s house, then his urgent business trip into the city, followed by Olivia’s two day trip to see an aging aunt who she’d not seen in months. She simply had to go. There was no conspiracy to keep them apart but it certainly seemed that way. They hardly had a chance to talk following her huge revelation of the previous week. The scene with the cellar, her bold confession, followed by Neil’s overwhelming compassion—there was a lot to absorb and a need to be with Neil again—for confirmation, reinforcement, to answer the questions that must still be left hanging in his mind.
