Aria's pov "You have ten minutes to pack up whatever belongings you have and leave the pack. You will be killed on site if you are still within these borders after then." Kael announced. "Kael please don't do this. I trusted you, I vouched for you and I put you in that position." Tears streamed down my face and I couldn't bare the looks of disappointment I received, from not just my father but the pack members. "I loved you." I sobbed out brokenly. "You were too naive. You should be thanking me because I'm offering your pack redemption. You believe in happy endings Aria but I assure you those are merely myths, the real world is about power tussle and the mastery of treachery." He said without remorse. "I don't love you Aria. I never did, you were a means to an end and now I have no use for you so you must die." He announced with crazed eyes. It felt like a dream, this couldn't possibly be real. What happened to all the sweet words he whispered to me and the promises of the future we made together. Where had our love gone? "You don't have the power to-" my father began to protest and Kael lunged at him, changing in midair and sinking his canines right into his neck. Gasps filled the silence as everyone watched in shock. I screamed as my father writhed beneath him and after a few seconds he stopped moving, his eyes blank. No, no, no...this couldn't be happening. "You monster." I screamed as I lunged at Kael but he gripped me by my neck, his claws sinking into my skin before he threw me to the side as though I was a ragged doll. Kael transformed back into a human and cleaned the trail of blood that ran down his lips. "I believe I have proven that I indeed have the power to do with this pack whatever I want. Does anyone else have any protests?" He roared, daring anyone to oppose him and meet the same fate. "You killed him." I said numbly, unable to look away from my father's lifeless body. "Yes and you are going to be next princess." He grinned at me and I wondered how I could have possibly been so blind. The scent of rogues filled the air and they began to draw out of the shadows and stand tall behind Kael. How hadn't we detected their scent? I stumbled back as he drew closer to me. "Will none of you do anything?" I looked around to the warriors and my pack but all of them looked everywhere but at me. Kael's murderous eyes told me just exactly what he had in mind for me. "They are my pack now, they owe their allegiance to only me." He smirked darkly at me. I gazed at my pack members, hoping to rouse a reaction from them. When it was painfully obvious I was alone, I turned and ran with all my might, shifting to my wolf without breaking my stride. "Members of the Silverfang pack, a new era is upon us. You served people who could so easily give you up, people who betrayed your trust and places you in my hands. Prove your loyalty to the pack and your Alpha and kill the traitor which threatens this pack" I could hear his voice loud and clear in the distance. I urged my wolf on faster as I heard a loud howl in the night and I knew they were coming for me and they would kill me to prove their loyalty to their new Alpha. I made it out of the borders but I knew I wasn't safe just yet and I couldn't let my guard down. How could I have been so stupid to trust a rogue? All my father's warnings echoed in my head but it was too late. My pack was destroyed and my father was dead all because I made one wrong decision by trusting and baring my heart out to the wrong person. A body slammed into mine, pulling me out of my thoughts and I rolled on the gravelled floor. I growled in warning as the wolves surrounded me, circling me purposefully. It was painfully obvious I was outnumbered and there was no way I could fight these many wolves and win. This was my pack, I had just called them my friends and family less than an hour ago and now they were intent on killing me because I had failed them and placed them at the mercy of rogues. As one wolf pounced on me so did the others. The snapped into action, sinking their canines into my skin and I writhed beneath them, whimpering in pain. My eyes pleaded with them but they didn't relent. I changed back into my human form and staggered to my feet. "You don't have to prove anything to him. We could take him on and get control of our pack back." I tried to rally them. "You brought this upon us." One of them sneered. Their mocking eyes told me one thing...they could only obey the one who wore the signet of the Alpha. A wolf I recognized as Darius, being their leader, howled as I laid lifeless with blood seeping out my body. The rest of the wolves howled in response and I knew that was their signal to alert their Alpha the deed had been done and they had gotten rid of me. A distant howl echoed in the distance and I instantly knew it was Kael's . The wolves turned and headed back the way they came, leaving me for dead. 'It was over.' I thought. Kael had won, he had used me to get my pack just like my father told me he would and had left me for dead. Tears streamed down my cheeks and I waited for the pain or anger to grip my heart but I felt nothing. I had laid my heart out and trusted Kael blindly and now I was empty and on the verge of death. I laid helplessly, not bothering to put up a fight when the darkness claimed me.
