Aria's pov "We should kill him and put him out of his suffering." One of the warriors, Darius, said. "Let's just ignore him, he'll soon die anyways." Another commented. My eyes met forest green ones and held. His eyes were a mixture of wildness, desperation and silent pleading. The metallic smell of blood and the stench of the rogue lying, beaten and battered in front of me had me scrunching my nose in disgust. "Don't." I commanded when one of the warriors stepped closer to him. The rogue growled as it struggled to lift himself. "Nobody is going to hurt him, we are taking him back with us." I announced and my warriors looked as shocked as the rogue. "Is that wise?" Darius asked. "Do you dare question me?" I quirked a brow at him and he immediately lowered his head in submission. "We aren't going to hurt you, I want to help you." I told the rogue softly as I approached him. His eyes held mine and he must have seen the sincerity in my eyes because he visibly relaxed and let his guard down. We journeyed back to my pack and I immediately sent for the pack doctor. "Aria why have you brought a rogue to the pack?" My father asked once I stepped out of the room. News sure did travel fast. "Alpha." I bowed in respect. "Rise." His voice boomed. "He was hurt and injured. Whoever left him there left him for dead, I couldn't just ignore him." I explained but his eyes did not soften. "That was exactly what you were meant to do. Rogues and pack wolves cannot coexist. Your ancestors before you tried it and suffered the grave consequences of their error. What was the first thing I taught you?" He asked. "Never trust a rogue." I muttered, knowing I was about to receive a long lecture. "It might be just him today but tomorrow when he is stronger he'll bring more of his kind and before you know it they'll take over our pack." He growled. "That won't happen. I brought him to the pack and I've made him my responsibility, you always taught me that being a leader was about following your gut father and that's what I'm doing. My wolf didn't agree with killing him or leaving him in the woods to die, I need you to trust me." I said as my silver eyes flashed. "Fine but if anything happens you will bear the consequences for his actions. One wrong move from him and I will personally kill him with my bare hands." My father said with a pointed look. **** "Why did you save me?" The rogue stared at me from the bed. "Would you rather I killed you?" I quirked a brow. "Pack wolves aren't exactly known for being kind to outsiders." He commented. I stared at the rogue who seemed to have a boyish charm about him. It had been a few days since I found him in the woods and he had rapidly healed since then. Now that he had been cleaned I realized a handsome man laid beneath all that dirt and blood. "There was just something about you that caught my attention. I can't quite place it." I shrugged. "You aren't worried I would cause havoc in your pack?" He asked. "I won't hesitate to kill you if I so much as smell a whiff of trouble." I stared straight into those deep green eyes. "Kael." He introduced himself. "Aria." I responded. "You have beautiful eyes Aria." His voice was low and I blushed despite myself. "What happened in the woods? Who did that to you?" I asked and his eyes immediately darkened. "I would rather not relive that moment." He murmured and I c****d my head to the side. "I have to know if it is going to pose a threat to my pack in anyway." I informed him. "Trust me it's common for rogues to be beaten for their mere existence and left for dead. No harm will come to your pack." He assured me and for some reason I believed his words. "You'll have to prove yourself worthy to be a part of the Silverfang pack, training starts tomorrow by five Kael. Don't make me regret my decision." I said before leaving his room. "Do you know what you are doing?" Darius asked me as I made my way towards the pack house. "If you have anything to say just spit it out." I retorted. "We know nothing about this rogue yet we let him into our pack. You are the next Alpha, everyone knows you'll take your father's place when he steps down. We rely on you to protect us at all costs, do you think the elders will be happy when they learn you've brought a rogue to the pack?" He asked. "Everyone knows I'll be the next Alpha because I've trained under my father tirelessly and I've proved myself capable. If the elders can't trust my judgement then maybe I'm not cut out to be the Alpha after all." I bit out before walking away. I was tired of people watching and questioning my every move, waiting for me to make a mistake so they could call me out. Kael and I began training and I took him under my wing. I was determined to sculpt him, to prove everyone wrong about him. I wanted them to see what I saw in those green eyes, he had potential for so much more. I ignored the nagging feeling in my gut as we got closer. I couldn't place the exact moment it happened but along the way the lines blurred. I began to spend more time with Kael and the more I got to know him, the more I craved his presence. His soft boyish grins and the way he intently stared at me with blatant desire made me feel a certain way no other male had all my life. "There are so many layers to you, much more than your title and responsibilities." He peered down at me as his hands caressed the scars along my arm. "You aren't disgusted by my scars?" I asked and held my breath. The numerous scars which littered across my back and arms were a big insecurity of mine. "They speak of your strength Aria. I doubt I could ever be disgusted by anything about you, I wish you could see just how perfect you are through my eyes." He murmured against my lips right before he kissed me slowly and with precision, it was as though his lips were trying to say something he couldn't and in that moment I felt a chip in my heart. I fell deeply and hopelessly in love with Kael and I knew my sentiments were returned. I was intent on spending the rest of my life with him, consequences be damned.
