Chapter 4

Things have been going smoothly, almost like she isn’t even here. I think that's how she likes it.  The shop is cleaner than ever and once in a while I’ll hear the guys talking about the part fairy as they call them. Whenever they have a problem with a part the next day it’s in its place on the bike and in working order. I have a feeling it's Sky but have no proof, so I keep my mouth shut.  I don’t see her that often, I give her her space like promised but when I do my breath gets caught in my throat. She is beautiful. I know my d**k is  interested, it twitches every time I think of her. I know my brother is interested, I catch the looks he gives her when he thinks no one's looking. 

Devon and I've been sharing things since the womb and yes sometimes even women. I’m not even sure Sky would go for a guy let alone two. It’s been almost two months since her arrival. She doesn’t do much except for hiking a few days a week. A few weeks ago she  covered the windows of the garage after  asking Josh a question via text. She still doesn’t talk much. All the guys wonder what she’s doing in there, sometimes we hear banging and drilling. I see a sliver of  light on all hours of the night. Even though she’s starting to look healthier. She put on some weight and started to have a glow to her skin. Seeing the changes makes me realize she went through some kind of hell. 

I’m walking across the lot to my truck. I don't drive it much but I have to pick up some parts in town. I see Sky walking up from the back, she waves at me and it makes me stop. It’s the first time she has done that and I’m struck dumb. I stand there watching her walk to me. “ Are you going into town?” My heart speeds up, it’s the first time she has started a convocation with me, even if it’s one question. I  clear my throat “ Yes, do you need me to pick something up for you?” She shakes her head no “ Can I go with you? I just need a pharmacy to get some stuff. I don’t want to ask Josh.”  I’m  kinda confused at what she would need and couldn’t ask Josh or me to get. I just walk to the passenger side door and wait for her to jump in.  

She gets settled and I slide in my side. I reach over to get her seat belt and see her get tense. I stop half way, “ Sorry buckle up”and Start the truck. She lets out a breath and does as told. “ I have to pick some parts up but we pass a pharmacy on the way. We can stop there first if you like.” She nods her head in acknowledgement. I guess I scared her into not talking again.  I don’t like that, I like her being comfortable enough to talk to me. After some time I let out a sigh.” You don’t have to be afraid of me. You can talk to me if you want.”  She bobbed her head but didn't say anything. “ Look I know I can be scary looking and most people are scared of me but I just want you to know you don’t have to be. You're safe with us.” 

I didn’t think she was gonna say anything when a quiet “ you're not scary” came my way. I look over at her not believing my ears. “ I’m not scared of you or Devon or any of the guys at the shop. Never have been.” Now I’m really confused. First, how did she know I’m Shane without telling her and what does she mean never being scared of us? My confusion shows on my face, then I hear the best sound ever. She let out a little giggle. 

“ Let me guess you want to know how I knew you were Shane.” It was a statement not a question. Now I’m the one bobbing their head. “ I’ve always been able to tell you guys apart from when we first met. As far as the scared thing goes, I’m not scared of any of you guys. Only one person in the world scares me.” She trails off at the end. I decided not to push it and let it go there. My heart soars at the thought of her not being scared of us and waits until I tell Devon she can tell us apart. 

We stop at the pharmacy and she gets out, “Is the parts place close?”  “Yes”  “ Ok you can go there while I’m in here if that will be more covenant for you. I don’t know how long I’ll be.”  “ That doesn’t matter, I can wait.”  “ It does to me, you guys have been so nice to me already. I’ll be fine plus I have your number  if I need you.”  I’m not too sure about this but she gave me an almost pleading look. I finally agreed, “ I’ll only be ten minutes and meet you back here.” She nods as she pulls her hat down farther on her face and I watch her walk in. 

Standing in line at the parts shop I started thinking why she didn’t want me to wait. Was she embarrassed or something? The line is moving slowly and I start to get antsy, ten minutes have passed about ten minutes ago. I can't take it any more, I yell up to old man Ben. He waves me up and starts putting my order on the counter. I sign for it and leave. About f**k time. I pull up to the pharmacy in time to see Sky kicking some guys ass. 

I jump out before the truck barely stops. She has this poor soul on the ground almost crying for his mama. A crowd is gathering and I yell “ What the f**k i going on here.” I didn’t mean to yell at her and I wince at my own tone, but Sky she doesn’t even miss a beat. “ Oh nothing, just teaching this guy something his mama missed.Now asI was saying, you're  not to touch another woman without her expressed permission, right? The guy chokes out a yes holding back tears. She pats him on the head saying ‘good boy’ picks up her bag and starts to her side of the truck. 

I know I’m very confused and when what she says finally clicks I bellow out “ He touched you? were? “ and start for the guy myself. She calls me and tells me to get in the truck he had enough. Some women in the crowd start yelling things like get him girl, ata girl don’t take that s**t and so on. She calls for me again and I slide in. I am gripping the wheel so hard my knuckles are turning white. “ where did he touch you?”  “ Shane” I cut her off. “ No Sky where did he touch you and why? Are you ok?” 

She huffs out a breath before answering. “ I am standing there waiting for you when he comes up to me trying to hit on me. I didn’t answer him so he took it upon himself to grab my ass. Then you saw the end result of the era of his ways. He never said his name and yes I’m fine,” I look over her scanning her for any injuries. I don't see any, I look back to the road. I’m still fuming mad when we get back to the shop. Sky heads for the back when I clear my throat at her and she stops, I point to the shop she stares at me taking my measure. She huffs and turns to the shop as she is told. 

Josh comes over when she goes in. “ Did she just huff at you?” he looks dumb founded. “ Yeah she did, I also found her kicking some guys ass for grabbing her ass.” Now he looks straight confused. I give him ‘no bull s**t look’ and ask him to unload the parts. 

I walk into the shop and find her already in the office. Devon is in there looking confused himself. Yeah buddy it’s going around.

“ Now do you want to tell Devon what happened or do you want me too?” She stares at me with a straight face. 

“ Ok fine I’ll do it then.” Devon sits up straighter giving  his full attention. “ when we went to town today” Devon cuts me off “ She went into town?”  I cut him with a look and continued. “ She went into the pharmacy while I picked up the parts. I was a little later than expected and when I came back to find her kicking some guys ass for grabbing her ass.”  “ You didn’t kick his ass?” “ I didn’t get the chance too. By the time I got there she had already put a hurtin on the guy.” Now Devon's face matches mine. He turns back to Sky, she looks so small in the overstuffed chair she’s siting in. She looks over at us and shrugs. 

Devon looks back at me “ Do we know him?”  I shake my head “ he didn’t give a name either”. He doesn’t like that as much as I don’t.  “ Will it be ok to have the night off tonight?” She asks in a small voice. Devon’s face immediately softens “ Yes of course sweetie are you hurt?”  Skyl blinks at him for a second before answering. “ No I’m fine, I was gonna ask before all this happened. Thank you”  She caught the same sweetie as me,  I don’t think he even realizes it. 

Josh comes walking in with a dumb look on his face carrying some boxes in his hand. “ we have too many parts, I think old man Ben is losing it,” I open my mouth to answer when Sky jumps off the chair and rushes over to Josh grabbing the parts out of his hand. “No their mine I’ll take them, Thanks boy’s” and leaves. My jaw drops, Josh get a dumb confused look and Devon sit back in his hair and laughs. “ well boy’s I think we are gonna have permanent dumb confused looks on our faces. Her colors are showing.”  Devon and I share a look and Josh shakes his head. 

We follow out to the shop just to see all the  confused looks on the guys and we start laughing. “ Hey boss, what put a fire under her ass?” I shake my head “ well boys I think we found our shop fiery.”  I walk away laughing to myself. 

Devon comes into the office with another pile of paperwork. I groan “ I wish we had a paperwork fairy”, He chuckles but I know he feels the same. “ So when did Sky become a sweetie?” He looks up at me and c***s his head to the side. A slow blush starts going up his neck. “ Before you say anything I’m on the same page as you. She told me today she’s not afraid of any of us and she can tell us apart.” I say with excitement in my voice. 

“ What do you mean she can tell us apart?” 

“That’s what she said and have been able to do so since the very first meet.” He has his thinking look on. “What did she say about not being afraid of us, like how did she say it?’ I know what he’s getting at. 

“I thought I scared her when I tried to reach across her for her seat belt. She said she’s not afraid of us but there's one person she is afraid of. She didn’t elaborate but I think that's who she is hiding from. We Still have to be careful about getting  too close. It seems like she’s still having a hard time with that. She tensed up real bad when I did.”

“ How did she end up going to town with ya? Did you ask her?”

“No man, she came to me. I was shocked when it happened.” I have a s**t eating grin on my face and I can tell he is feeling a bit jealous about it.
