CHAPTER SIX Friday came faster than either of them expected. Lana spent the entire morning scrubbing every trace of herself from the master bedroom. She folded his shirts with trembling fingers. She stripped the sheets that still carried their mingled scent. She carried her small pile of clothes back to the guest room like nothing had ever happened. Every movement felt slow and heavy.
