The Billionaire's Baby- Chapter 9

Why couldn't they understand? I cried all the more, harder. I looked down and noticed my arms had angry red marks all over them, some forming into prominent bruises. My cheeks stung, and I continued to cry for ages. I don't know how long I stayed there, but the sun began setting behind the mansion across the street. My face was red, my eyes swollen and puffy. I had never felt so low in my life. Eventually, I ran out of tears to cry and simply rested my forehead against my arms propped up on my legs. Everything was such a mess. What the hell was I thinking? A car engine roared to a stop outside my house. I didn't care who it was. It didn't even concern me what they thought about me sitting there looking pitiful. Pregnant and all alone. Pregnant. "Sophie," Julian's voice rushed over me like a caress. I simply looked up at him with wide eyes. I couldn't speak. I was so shocked. Everything was gone. At least, he had changed and cleaned the blood off him. His knuckles were a mess and his usually thin lips were swollen and cut. Julian leaned down and gripped my shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze, "Oh, Sophie. You're freezing. How long have you been there?" I shrugged unsure as he took off his jacket and placed it around my shoulders, slipping my arms through the sleeves one at a time like a baby. "Don't worry, Sophie," Julian murmured softly, stroking the tears that built up in the corners of my eyes. "I'm going to look after you. Both of you." And with that, he lifted me into his arms, pressing me against his chest. I wrapped my arms around his neck and closed my eyes. Oh, this man. He could be so gentle. Yet, he could also be cruel. Julian walked down the path with me gently swaying in his arms and placed me in the back of his car, settling in next to me. "Straight to the airport, James," Julian commanded, making sure the jacket was warming me up. "I'm fine," I whispered, as his eyes watched me warily. "Just tired." "Sleep," Julian replied softly, dragging me across, so I was splayed against his chest. "I'll keep you warm.' "Where are we going?" I asked just as softly as I felt Julian thrum my stomach gently. I got comfortable against his chest, shuddering when he winced a little. He must be cut up underneath too. He was still the most handsome man I've ever laid my eyes on. I dare think he always will be. "Isle Lujo," Julian murmured, stroking his fingers through my hair and brushing stray bits behind my ears. "Where is that?" My voice was barely audible as my eyes blissfully began to drift. "It's in the Carribean," Julian replied, as I began to fall asleep against him. "Hush, sleep. It's been a long day and I don't want you to be stressed out more." I nodded and yawned, tucking my head under his chin and placing my hand over his chest. The last thing I remembered feeling was Julian's hands gently rubbing across my stomach in a possessive manner.
