Chapter 4

Anastasia’s POV “Am I being pranked? Look, I’m sorry I used you for some silly game yesterday but I’ll get out of your way from now on.” I ducked under the arm he pinned by my side. Before I got past him, he gripped my arm and slammed my back against the car. “I wasn’t asking you.” He said coldly, with his eyes locked with mine. “Well, I declined it,” I growled before shoving him in the chest. He didn’t budge but he released a chuckle before holding my chin firm. “You didn’t seem so different when you kissed me yesterday.” I frowned, clenching my fists by my side. The only bold move I’ve ever made has come back to bite me in the ass. “You don’t even know my name, so you can’t expect me to..,” “Your name is Anastasia Cabrera, First daughter and only daughter to Katherine Cabrera and you were the chief engineer at Santoro Motors.” He finished. My mouth was practically cleaning the floors at this point. “Are you stalking me?” The nerve of him to call ‘ME’ the stalker. “No, but I’m very good friends with the Santoro family. So information like this comes very easily to me.” He winked, making my frown deeper. That’s probably why I found him in Sebastian’s old office. Were they friends? I want to ask but I don’t want to push any further. “Well, I don’t know your name and that makes us strangers. So if you don’t mind, I have to leave.” I ducked under his arm and made my way to the door. “You have tonight to agree to my offer Miss Cabrera, Don’t let this chance pass you by.” He said before I slammed the door shut behind me. I have to tell Cassie everything. ************ “CASSIE!” I yelled her name but the house was quiet. I shrugged thinking she might still be at work. So I tossed my bag aside and I unbuttoned my shirt till it fell off my shoulders. I grabbed a carton of juice and walked up to my room. When I pulled the door open, I spat out all the juice on the floor. “This would be the first time I’d seen you take anything out of your mouth,” Sergio smirked, seated on Cassie’s bed. Cassie sat on the floor with sweat dripping down her forehead with Sergio aiming a pistol at her head My eyes lit up realizing I was just in my bra. I tried to wrap my arms around my chest and it only caught his attention more. “Now, don’t pretend as though it’s something I’d never seen before.” He winked. “What do you want?” I dug my fingers into the juice carton unable to control my anger. “What don’t I want?” He scoffed, “You need to come back to Santoro Motors.” “Last I checked, I’m not someone with enough resilience or strength. You could ask your wife to play the part, I’m sure she would be happy to take my place.” I smirked. His jaw tensed, pressing the pistol harder against Cassie’s forehead. “Anastasia please.” Cassie sobbed, tears rolling down her cheeks. I shut my eyes and sucked in a harsh breath. I’m doing this only for Cassie. “Fine, I’ll do it.” I spat. “No.” “WHAT?!” Cassie and I yelled in unison while Sergio laughed, smacking his thigh. “You should’ve seen the look on your faces.” He said hysterically, while the color drained from Cassie’s face, I raised the juice carton to throw it at him. “No, no, no.” He kissed his teeth wagging his finger for me to stop. “I can’t believe you thought I came here to beg.” He pouted. He’s a bipolar ass, what the f**k? He got on his feet and walked towards me, but I refused to move. I’m not scared of him, and I wasn’t going to let him think that way. “I don’t care that you left my company. In fact, we’ve already gotten your replacement.” He smirked. “Who would that be?” I asked with a raised brow and he shifted out of my view. He stepped behind me and when he gripped my shoulders I stiffened. “Cassie, you're being promoted.” He chirped, making both our eyes double in size. “Are you kidding?” The frown on her face slowly morphed into a smile. My chest tightened and I curled my toes knowing exactly where Sergio was going with this. “Do I sound like I’m joking?” He asked coldly and Cassie shook her head immediately. “You’re our new head of Engineering.” She clasped her hand over her mouth and her eyes became glossy. But before she could speak Sergio stopped her. “You can get the position on one condition. After you cut all ties with Anastasia.” My heart dropped. Cassie’s mouth fell open and her gaze switched between Sergio and mine. “What if I don’t?” She gulped. “Then you’re fired,” Sergio grunted and my heart ached when I watched the hesitation on Cassie’s face. I wanted her to pick me. So both of us would be free from them. From the money laundering deals, illegal car races, and drug trafficking. Everything. But Cassie’s eyes looked everywhere but mine. She released a shaky breath before nodding her head. “Speak when I’m talking to you,” Sergio ordered, and Cassie sucked in a harsh breath. “I’ll cut all ties with her.” I couldn’t see his face but I knew Sergio had a huge grin plastered on it. The narcissistic bastard couldn’t let me go freely without taking away something precious to me. “Good. You can’t have our rival living with you in the same house, God knows how many secrets she’ll steal.” “What are you talking about? My company has no business with the Santoros.” I hissed, but Sergio’s eyes lit up with mischief, and a smirk played on his lips. “You don’t know?” “What is it?” I frowned. “The man you kissed last night owns Sullivan Cars.” His jaw ticked when the words left his mouth. “He’s also my uncle, Matteo Santoro.”
