CHAPTER 14 - Night of the Musical

1615 Words
1920,Dublin , Ireland Aidan was completely immersed in his work when someone knocked on his door. He was slightly annoyed. He needed to finish what he was doing soon. "Sir, may I come in?," he heard the faint voice of his butler from the other side of the door. "Yes, what is it? " he replied without even looking up from his papers   "At what time will you be leaving for the musical? Should I ask the driver to ready the car?, the butler asked him. "Musical?, damn it, the musical!!" , he exclaimed while taking out his pocket watch.  It was five minutes past six. He wanted to hug his butler, Jon, for reminding him. He had promised Dareanna that he would pick her up at 7pm so that they could go to the musical together. The mayor is not going to be there, so he's going to have her for himself.  Aidan smiled at the thought. "Ready my car by 6.45 Jon, can you also check if my blue tux is dry cleaned or not. And Jon, I won't be back for dinner." Aidan went on giving orders while he tidied his desk. He had thought about her everyday since he had last seen her. She was in his head and he simply couldn't forget those mesmerizing green orbs. He couldn't wait to dive back into them. He couldn't believe that he had been so busy that he almost got late for their date. He mentally punched himself while he had a shower. He quickly got dressed in his midnight blue tux that Jon had neatly hung in his room by the time he got out of the shower.  He took a good look at himself in the five foot something mirror that was kept next to his almirah.  He knew he looked good. But tonight he had a special lady to impress, so he took more time than usual fixing his hair. He did not know why he was making such a fuss about tonight.  He had been on countless dates with so many women. For some reason, today felt different. He wondered if that was because she was a married woman. He smiled at his own joke and went outside. Jon had parked his Ford right outside the door and he got in. He checked his pocket watch to see that it was exactly 6.45pm and wondered if Dareanna was ready. As he drove he was thinking whether to pick her up at the gate or drive in and pick her from the door. If it was someone else, he probably won't even think about it. He did not want Dareanna to get into trouble with the mayor. But he wasn't a coward. He wasn't going to hide the fact that he fancied her. As his thoughts travelled in different directions, he realized he was near the Mayor's mansion. He got the answer to his conflicted state of mind when he saw the mayor's car coming out of the gate. He slowed down his car and waited for the mayor's car to pass his.  He checked his watch , and waited another minute before he turned towards the house through the opened gate. Dareanna was nervous and excited at the same time. She had spent three days thinking about what she was going to wear to the musical. She did not want to seem all too excited in front of the mayor, for she has openly shown her lack of interest attending a musical for entirely political reasons.   But the mayor had plans for Friday night and he needed someone to represent him at the musical. So he was sending his charming wife to that. Dareanna had finally decided on wearing a long, silk dress. It was royal blue and had a heart shaped neckline,  which was deep enough to show some cleavage. It had sleeves that fell off her shoulder. She paired the dress with a dark blue faux fur sash. She put on the silver necklace that had a small tear drop shaped sapphire pendant. It was her mother's.  She paired it with small sapphire ear studs that had crystals around it. She styled her hair into a bun with some neat waves at the side of her face. It was a popular hairstyle and she knew she looked good in it. She stood in front of the mirror and observed herself. Her entire outfit was trendy. The only rebellious thing in her dress was that it had a slit that came up to her mid thigh. But it wasn't that visible since the bottom of the dress was flared. She checked the clock that was standing in a corner of her room when she heard the mayor leaving in his car. She wondered if he would run into Aidan since it was almost 7pm. She knew the mayor was going to know that she had not gone with their driver. She was going to deal with it then. As for now, the only thing she had in mind was seeing Aidan. Not five minutes had gone by since the mayor left, she heard another car pulling in front of the house. Dareanna ran towards her room's balcony to see if it was Aidan.  It seemed like his car. She quickly straightened her dress, grabbed her coat and took one last glance at herself in the mirror before heading out of her room. She went downstairs a bit slowly. She did not want to show Aidan that she was so desperate to see him.  He had his back to her when she opened the door. He quickly turned to look at her as she opened the door. He looked absolutely breathtaking in his midnight blue tux. It highlighted his sharp blue eyes and the jawline. His lips twirled into a smile that reached his eyes. "Good Evening, beautiful. You look stunning this evening.", he said as he took her hand and kissed it.  She blushed as sparks ran through her hand.  "Thank you. You don't look so bad yourself Mr.Roche" she said slowly. He chuckled as he guided her towards the car and opened the door for her. Aidan got in and started the car. He looked at her to see her fixing her dress. He got a glimpse of her milky white skin through the slit of her dress. He wondered why his heart was racing. The drive was silent. Aidan enjoyed looking over at her occasionally to see her looking out of the window or at him. He thought it was adorable how she blushed when she was caught looking at him.   It was a ten minute drive to the theatre. As he stopped near it, he saw many gentlemen entering the theatre with handsomely dressed ladies at their arms. Aidan opened the door for Dareanna and took her hand. They entered the theatre together and they could feel a lot of eyes on them. Indeed they were such a matching couple, anyone would see how nice they looked together in their unintentionally matched outfits. The theatre was built in the Opera house style. Dareanna led Aidan to the seats that we reserved for the mayor. It was a corner seat, in a small private balcony. All VIP guests were given seats in these sort of balconies. As they took their seats, they looked around to see other VIP guests in the other balconies and the general audience occupying all the other seats. The lights dimmed as the musical was about to start.  Inside the theatre was not as cold as outside. Dareanna let her sash fall loose and relaxed. She wondered if she was feeling warm because Aidan was next to her. She was entranced by the music that was being played. Her trance was broken when she felt a hand slowly taking hers. She looked at Aidan to see him looking at her with an unreadable expression.  The music made the moment more intense as she kept getting lost in his eyes. He was so close to her. Their bodies almost touched, and the rest of the world faded.  All she could feel was his hand now resting on her exposed thigh. Aidan slowly tore his gaze from hers and looked back at the musical. It was torture not be able to kiss her right then and there.  But he wanted to wait for the right place and the time. However, he did not take his hand away from her leg. She did not try to push his hand away either. He knew she liked it. Dareanna tried hard to keep a straight face as his fingers kept drawing circles on her thigh. His touch was making her entire body go crazy. She had not felt anything like that before. His hands were rough but at the same time it was very smooth on her. She did not know how to explain it. She could not concentrate on the musical. All she felt was his hand slowly travelling up under her dress. It was almost in between her legs and she felt heat pool into her core. Her heart was racing and her face was burning up. She didn't move. She wanted to moan at his touch. But she didn't. She wanted him to touch her there, but he didn't.   She was even a bit annoyed.  She closed her legs a bit tighter and he stopped moving his hand. He looked at her with a smirk as he fixed her dress so that it covered her thigh and took her hand back in his and kept it on his leg till the musical ended. She was frustrated and a bit mad at him. But being so close to him,  close enough to smell his perfume, somehow made her happy. She did not know why.
