Rachel’s POV
If you were wondering whether I had anything to do with Payton Shields’ disappearance, I’ll tell you right now: I didn’t.
But I can tell from the looks on Harley and Will’s faces that they aren’t quite so convinced.
“Oh, calm down,” I say impatiently as I lead them out of the school and over to the mansion. “I have a handful of people report back to me on Harley’s activities and whereabouts. Is that really such a surprise to anyone?”
Will certainly looks surprised, but Harley doesn’t. “No,” she says, “but I don’t follow how you were able to connect the dots so fast. I go to the Headmaster’s office with Will, and instantly that tells you that Payton Shields is missing?”
I really wish she wasn’t smart, on top of the good looks and everything else she has going for her. “
