Sometimes society tells you to be yourself. However, there is an undertone to be your practical self. To lose your identity to fit into society’s mold. It’s already innate to us humans to fit in, in order to survive. To go with the flow of the judgement, insights, opinions and practices of other people that surrounds you.
Growing up as a member of l***q community is hard. The pressure as a middle child is there. So as insecurities and the thirst for affection. Not being able to express yourself entirely because it doesn't seem to fit the society's eye and so as to my parents' perspective. If only we could detach our hearts and wrap them in paper and tuck them away in a drawer and just put them back to our chests once we're finally ready to feel things enough. Vulnerability has always been my weakness but all throughout the process, it became my strength.
To acknowledge how big the world is and to accept how small we are and to forgive ourselves for not being enough. To exist. To struggle. To attempt. To make sense of the world beneath our feet and the stars above our heads. To find out that the answers are not without but within. Times may be tough but you need to do what you can do because times don't last, only strong people do. It's not about how you fall, it's about how you stand up.
Growing up as a vulnerable person made me realize that I should be brave to face the world. Be the sun on ripened grain. Be the diamond glints on snow. Life is too short to live for other people. Go forth, and set the world on fire. Make a difference differently in an appropriate manner.
Because by the end of the day, you only have yourself and your identity is the only thing you will own. Don't let society erase it. Create a mark. Leave a mark and be a mark. Life may be short but what's more important is that you've regretted nothing upon doing something spectacular. "
