Chapter 68: Surveillance

1235 Words
“What is the status of the matter with the evil mage?” When I returned to the office, the boss was wearing another sour expression. “As expected… I brought down the evil mage with my own hands! Right about now, that woman ought to be dying of embarrassment in front of the whole city!” My plan is flawless. The evil girl in question is now dying with her stomach twisted after drinking my poisoned coffee. My acting is very good and I’m never suspicious. She’s now unable to go out because of her stomach being unwell. The poison I gave her will result in laxative diarrhea. She probably poops on her skirt earlier. Feeling so much shame that she would rather crawl in a hole and die. I’m truly a genius. I told my plan to the boss. And here’s what my boss had to say after silently lending his ear. “So I suppose you saw her dead in embarrassment with your own eyes?” “Of course not.” Seeing someone dying is something I don’t want to see. “...” At this point, my boss let out a huge sigh. “You… Okay, listen up. First of all, there’s no way someone died like that. There are extreme cases like killing oneself because of an embarrassing experience. But that one is not going to kill her because she popped on her skirt or something. Also, you didn’t see it with your two eyes. There is no report of someone having diarrhea in the streets.” “She is a girl… I know she will kill herself eventually after someone sees her and sees her pathetic appearance.” For girls, appearance and social status are the top priority. “No, I want her to be physically killed… On the contrary, one of our agents got mixed up in everything and threw up at the coffee shop… From now on, you’re only to carry out plans after informing your colleagues, all right?” “...” After that, the day ended with me getting a long scolding from the boss. I swore to him that I would do some serious reflection and bring down the target with an even more perfect plan the next day. I stayed up all night working out my new scheme. And then I threw up the black coffee. “Bleh! Taste like mud.” I had one week to carry out my plan. I wasn’t going to think about what would happen if I was unable to bring down the evil mage within that period. Since I had recorded a crushing defeat on day one, I decided to use the next five days to diligently study the witch. On the final day, I will bring this matter to an end. When I told my boss about this plan, he would immediately promote me in excitement. … Day one surveillance. The morning sun was dazzling today. Seems like he really is not affected by the poison. She seems relaxed having her breakfast again. Maybe she is immune to poison. I’m amazed that he could drink a coffee without throwing up. I continue stalking out the cafe until evening. Those boring hours were a struggle against drowsiness. But it is especially at times like these that we must compose ourselves. True victory awaited me if I remained patient. Night fell… and I withdrew from the cafe when it was time for it to close. Day two of surveillance. The morning sun was blinding. The girl had been lounging at the cafe since earlier. Why on earth could she be haunting the same cafe day after day? Could she be biding her tie until I attack again? But since I had decided not to try anything for five days. Day three of the surveillance. “Oh… No… The weird girl is here again. Its the puker… She’s back.” “Watch, she’s going to order a cup of coffee and she’s going to barf it out.” “Why waste time drinking coffee?” The coffee shop staff surrounded me at a distance, whispering among themselves. I could hear everything they said, but being the cynical type, I was accustomed to a certain degree of prejudice. So I had coffee today, too. I gulped it down and after a few seconds, it came out of my mouth again. Day four of the surveillance. I started puking in the morning, throwing up at the coffee shop. By the way, the target is calmly ignoring me and elegantly placing her cup on her table. I’m a little annoyed. Day five of the surveillance. The boss summoned me first thing in the morning. “What are you doing every day at the coffee shop?” He asked. I have never told him my plan yet. What is this? My boss is stalking me? Apparently, a letter of complaint had arrived from the coffee shop, stating “We’d like you to do something about your subordinate who has been vomiting at our cafe every single day. She’s been really bad for business.” After he gave me peace of mind, I snuck back into the coffee shop. The target is on that day too. … After my hard work, The only thing I learned over five days of surveillance was the fact that the witch was going to the same cafe and sitting there in a daze from morning to night, totally exposed. The only thing I could be certain of was that I had plenty of opportunities. I simply have to jump into opportunities, right? The following day… I finally set out to execute my plan. I had been ordered to kill her, but killing went against my principles. So I decided to capture her instead. On that day, she was parked in a seat at the coffee shop without care, coffee sitting on the table in front of her. Completely defenseless. If I was going to do it now. I gripped my wand and came up directly behind her, then shouted as I cast a spell. “All right! Gotcha!” I cast a handcuff spell… an amazing spell that forcibly entrapped my opponent in the type of handcuff that bound even the fingers with solid chains. By the way, it has taken me a week to learn it. “Hahahaha! How's that? You can’t do anything like that, can you? Serve you right!” I laughed loudly in the coffee shop as I dragged the target off by the scruff of her neck. But,,, “Are you an i***t?” Someone tapped my shoulder. “What? What is your deal?” When I turned around, I saw the adventurer with light-brownhair and emerald eyes. What is happening here? Why is my captive standing there? What’s going on? “Did you think the dummy sitting at the cafe all day was me?” When I looked more carefully, the evil mage in my bindings was just a doll with the same appearance as the girl. She came to the coffee shop every day. This doll had been sitting there the whole time. That was her trick… The doll was added with some magical illusion. Therefore, I can’t see the difference without looking carefully. The girl pointed her index finger at me and fired a spell in my direction. I’m dead.
