Days passed, and Lily settled into Ashwood's gentle rhythm. She spent her mornings writing songs, afternoons exploring the town, and evenings performing at The Howling Wolf's open mic nights. The crowd's warm reception boosted her confidence.
One evening, as Lily packed up her guitar, Luca reappeared, his eyes gleaming in the dim light. "You're getting better," he said, his voice low and smooth.
Lily's heart skipped a beat. "Thanks. I've been writing new material."
Luca nodded, his gaze drifting to her hands. "I'd love to hear more."
They walked out of the venue, the night air filled with the sweet scent of blooming wildflowers. Lily felt at ease with Luca, despite his enigmatic nature.
As they strolled through the quiet streets, Luca asked about her music, her inspirations, and her dreams. Lily found herself opening up, sharing stories and fears she'd never revealed to anyone.
The conversation flowed effortlessly, until Luca's expression darkened. "Lily, I should warn you—"
Suddenly, a snarling growl echoed through the night, followed by the sound of shattering glass. A nearby shop's window lay broken, and a figure fled into the darkness.
Luca's eyes flashed with concern. "I'll take care of this. Get back to the inn, Lily. Now."
With that, he vanished into the night, leaving Lily bewildered and wondering what secrets Luca hid.
