Chapter 14 Erin went into the lunch room midday on Thursday to get a break. She needed a refill of her coffee and something sweet from the vending machine. It had been a long morning, and she had one more patient to see before she could get lunch. “Hello, Erin,” Kenneth said, surprising her. Erin stood and spun, feeling guilty at being caught when she should be with her patient. “Hey, Kenneth. I was just grabbing a quick snack then heading back in.” He nodded. “I was doing the same thing. I love working with these kids, but there are times when it really gets to me.” Erin chuckled and nodded. Kenneth was attractive with dark hair and bright green eyes. He always had a five o’clock shadow that gave him a distinguished look. He wore a suit every day, even when he wasn’t seeing patients.
