“Thank you,” she says leaning back.
“Don't get it twisted, I just want to give you more time to live.” I say, staring at her. “This doesn't mean you can avoid the inevitable.”
I turn and leave, making my way straight to my room. I can't bear to see the look on her face after my harsh words on her.
I don't actually enjoy this but I can't be presumed soft. Moreover, I can't let her know I intend to spare her life, no one should know, that way the elders won't have to force my hands.
I push the door to my room open, banging it shut behind me and taking a deep breath.
Everything in here reminds me of last night, her gown still on my floor, the bed sheets rumpled like there was a fight on it.
