Chapter 3

1164 Words
Tessa He digs his claws into my chest instead. I choke, clawing at him with what little strength I have left. My vision blurs. I’m not ready to die. Not here. Not like this. But my heart is literally in his hands, all it would take is for him to pull it out, and it’s over. “Nooooooooooo!!” Jasmine screams. I slowly look at her, knowing my life is about to come to an end but to my surprise, she has shifted. Her wolf is smaller than his but she lunges with a terrifying snarl. She sinks her teeth into his shoulder and drags him off me, slamming him into the wall with a strength I never knew she had. I am breathing helplessly and slowly on the bare floor, still in my wolf form. She snarls and rushes to attack, but he howls at her, and surprisingly, she stops, bending to him. Hell no! She is his fated mate and as the Alpha's son, he must have learnt how to control his mate's wolf. “Jasmine, you have to reject him now!” I say in my thoughts but in such a way that she could hear me. It was a tactic she taught me when we were younger. Seeing the way he growls in pain only means she is doing as I advised. He lunches on her and grabs her throat, and Instantly, I use my last strength and attack, digging my claws into his back. Jasmine takes that opportunity and digs her claws into his heart. He takes one of his beast claws and targets my own chest and I begin choking. Jasmine is choking, too; his other claws are on her neck while hers is in his chest. She dips further and he begins choking. I don't know what she does next but he falls while I stumble and my eyes close. I open my eyes, and the three of us are lying down separately, naked in our human form. The whole scene is suddenly blurring, I can barely manage to keep my eyes open, my body aching with every breath I take. But just as I was about to shut my eyes, I heard three slow and quiet knocks on the door. “George?” My heart skips a beat at the realization of who has that voice. It is Rose, Jasmine's best friend. “George, are you in here?” The door creaks open, and a scream rips from her throat the moment she sees us. “Ahhhhhh!!” she screams while her hands fly to her mouth. I can’t tell who she’s more shocked to see, George lying unconscious in a pool of blood, Jasmine beside him, or me barely alive. She tries walking towards us but the moment I hear footsteps rushing upstairs, she takes some steps backwards. They storm in, including George's brother, Alfred. One of them begins to touch us one after the other. He then looks at Alfred. “The girl is dead.” My chest tightens as tears well up in my eyes. No. No, she can’t be. Not my sister. Rose rushes to Jasmine and begins crying. I can only watch her cradle her and sob, while they all look at me like I’m the monster. “What happened here?!” Alfred asked. “It has to be her!!” Rose yells, pointing at me. I try to speak, to tell them it isn't true. George did this and not me. But I can't, I am too weak to. “Rush my brother to the clinic!!” Alfred orders. The abled men carry him right away while I remain here, tears flowing down my cheeks. I am not even healing and that's surprising. Alfred whispers something to the guy who is still standing beside him. The guy rushes out and, after a few seconds, returns with some other men. They carry Jasmine out of Rose's arms, who is still crying. One of the men kneels beside me, his hands sliding beneath me. He carries me out of the room. “My father will be very furious when he returns!!!” I hear Alfred yelling and my eyes close. **** When I open my eyes, I find myself on a sick bed, bandages all over my body. I try to stand, but I groan in pain; it turns out I am not healing. At that moment, everything replays in my head and tears trickle down my cheeks. Jasmine is dead. My sister is dead! My father and stepmother will definitely blame me for this. Surely, they will make my life a living hell. No one would believe me, and I doubt that scumbag George would ever tell the truth. I doubt I will even give him a chance; the moment I set my eyes on him, I will rip his heart out. He is the reason all of this happened. The reason my sister is dead. And Rose? What was she even doing there? Why did she come looking for George in the first place? Oh no! It better not be that she is one of them. But she can't be, I've never seen her with him. The door creaks open, pulling me from my thoughts. The doctor walks in but he pauses when he sees me awake, his eyes widening in shock. “You’re awake,” he says gently, stepping closer. “That’s a good start.” He moves to the side of the bed, checking the monitor and the IV drip. “You're going to be okay,” he assures me. “It will take time but you will be okay.” “Time?” I blink, confused. Healing quickly has always been one of my greatest advantages over other she-wolves. But the claws of an Alpha bloodline must have affected me differently. “Yes dear… You will need more time.” “How long have I been here?” “Two weeks,” My eyes widened in disbelief. Two weeks! “How come I'm not healing?” I ask. “I'm sorry, but you are losing your wolf; she is dying.” My breath hitches, Sanny is dying. I close my eyes, pressing my lips together to keep me from crying again. I don’t even know who I will be without her. I will be wolf-less, an Omega, the lowest kind of wolf. And it’s all because of that scumbag. “We can save her right?” I am in denial, I can't accept such a fate. He nods and a sly smile comes across my lips. He holds my hands softly and whispers, “If you can find your mate and he marks you… It will help heal you and your wolf.” “My boyfriend is my mate, I can…. Anyone can get him here.” He is suddenly silent, staring into my eyes like I am having false hope. “Doctor! What is it?”
