Two days later, Emilia found herself nervously fidgeting with her apron strings as she waited for Liam to arrive at the local coffee shop. She had spent the morning arranging books on the shelves and chatting with customers, but her mind kept wandering back to their conversation.
When Liam walked in, his eyes scanned the room until they landed on Emilia. He flashed her a warm smile, and Emilia's heart skipped a beat.
As they ordered their coffee and sat down at a small table, Emilia felt a sense of ease wash over her. They chatted effortlessly about everything from books to music to their shared love of the ocean.
Emilia was struck by how easy it was to talk to Liam. He listened attentively, asking thoughtful questions and sharing stories of his own. As they sipped their coffee, Emilia found herself feeling more and more comfortable around him.
As they neared the end of their cups, Liam glanced at his watch. "I'm so sorry, but I have to run soon," he said, his eyes apologetic. "I have a sailing lesson to give."
Emilia smiled. "No worries at all. It was great catching up with you."
As Liam stood up to leave, Emilia walked him out of the coffee shop. They stood on the sidewalk, chatting for a few more minutes.
Before he left, Liam turned to Emilia and asked, "Would you like to join me for a sail tomorrow? The weather is supposed to be perfect."
Emilia's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't been sailing in years, but the prospect of spending more time with Liam was too enticing to resist.
"I'd love to," she said, smiling up at him.
Liam grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Great! I'll pick you up at 9 am."
As Emilia watched Liam walk away, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. She had a feeling that this sailing trip was going to be the start of something special.
