Chapter 12: Sophia's POV

595 Words
I paced back and forth in my apartment, my mind racing with thoughts of Liam. We'd grown up together, been inseparable since childhood. We'd gone to college together, explored the world together. And then, somehow, we'd fallen in love. Or at least, I had. Liam had always been hesitant, always held back. And I knew why. He'd discovered my secret, my addiction to vaping and illegal drugs. He'd been repulsed, disgusted. And I couldn't blame him. But I couldn't help myself either. I'd started using when I was 20, as a way to cope with stress and anxiety. And it had spiralled out of control. I knew it was wrong, but I couldn't stop. And now, Liam was gone. He'd left me, citing my addiction as the reason. And I was desperate to get him back. I'd do anything, anything at all, to make him love me again. I'd quit the drugs, I'd change my life, I'd do whatever it took. Because without Liam, I was nothing. I stopped pacing and looked around my apartment, taking in the familiar surroundings. The photos of Liam and me on the walls, the memories we'd made together. It all seemed so distant now, so out of reach. And then I saw it. The phone. I'd called Liam earlier, threatening him, trying to scare him into coming back to me. But it hadn't worked. Yet. I picked up the phone, my heart racing with determination. I'd do whatever it took to get Liam back. Whatever it took. I dialed a number, a number I knew would change everything. And as I waited for the person to answer, I smiled to myself. The person on the other end of the line answered, and I took a deep breath before speaking. "Hey, it's Sophia," I said, trying to sound calm. "I need your help." There was a pause on the other end of the line, and for a moment, I wondered if I'd made a mistake. But then, the person spoke up. "What do you need, Sophia?" they asked, their voice cautious. I took another deep breath before launching into my plan. "I need you to help me get Liam back," I said, my voice steady. "I need you to help me make him realize that he still loves me." There was another pause, and I could almost hear the person on the other end of the line thinking. "I don't know, Sophia," they said finally. "Liam seems pretty determined to stay away from you. Are you sure this is a good idea?" I felt a surge of frustration, but I pushed it down. I knew I had to stay calm, had to convince this person to help me. "Yes, I'm sure," I said, my voice firm. "I'll do whatever it takes to get Liam back. And I need your help to do it." There was another pause, and then the person spoke up. "Okay, Sophia. I'll help you. But you have to promise me one thing." "What's that?" I asked, my heart racing with excitement. "You have to promise me that you'll be careful," they said. "Liam's not a guy to mess with. He's got a lot of power, and he's not afraid to use it." I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I pushed it aside. I was determined to get Liam back, no matter what it took. "I promise," I said, my voice steady. "I'll be careful." The person on the other end of the line sighed, and then spoke up. "Okay, Sophia. Let's get started."
