Chapter 7:A web of secrets

Emilia's mind was racing with questions as she tried to make sense of the mysterious note. Who could have written it, and what did they mean by saying Liam wasn't what he seemed?

As she tried to focus on her work, Emilia couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She kept looking over her shoulder, expecting to see someone lurking in the shadows.

Just as she was starting to calm down, the doorbell above the entrance to the bookstore jangled, signaling the arrival of a customer. Emilia's heart skipped a beat as she saw Liam walk in, a charming smile spreading across his face.

"Hey, beautiful," he said, sauntering over to the counter. "I missed you."

Emilia's instincts screamed at her to be cautious, but as she looked into Liam's eyes, she saw only kindness and sincerity. She felt a pang of guilt for doubting him.

As they chatted, Emilia couldn't help but notice that Liam seemed a bit... off. He was fidgety and distracted, and Emilia caught him glancing over his shoulder a few times.

"What's wrong?" Emilia asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

Liam's expression turned serious. "I have to tell you something," he said, his voice low. "Something that could change everything."

Emilia's heart skipped a beat as she wondered what Liam was about to reveal.

But before he could say anything else, the doorbell above the entrance jangled again. This time, it was a woman with long, curly brown hair and piercing green eyes.

"Speak of the devil," Liam muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing.

The woman's eyes locked onto Emilia, and a sly smile spread across her face. "Well, well, well," she said, her voice dripping with malice. "Look what we have here."

Emilia felt a shiver run down her spine as the woman's eyes seemed to bore into her soul.

"Who is this?" Emilia asked Liam, trying to keep her voice steady.

Liam's expression turned grim. "This is Sophia," he said. "My ex-girlfriend."

Sophia's smile grew wider. "That's right," she said. "And I'm here to warn you, Emilia. Liam is not what he seems. He's been playing you from the very beginning."

Emilia's world was rocked as Sophia's words hung in the air. What was going on? Was Liam really playing her, or was Sophia just trying to cause trouble?

As Emilia looked at Liam, she saw a mixture of emotions on his face. Guilt, anger, and something else... something that looked almost like fear.

What was Liam hiding? And what did Sophia have to do with it? Emilia's mind was racing with questions, and she knew she had to get to the bottom of it.
