Chapter 2:A chance encounter

258 Words
Emilia spent the rest of the day unpacking boxes and organizing the bookstore. She was determined to get everything just right for the grand reopening. As she worked, the sound of customers chatting and laughing at the bakery across the street drifted through the open window, making her feel more connected to the community. Just as Emilia was finishing up, a tall, handsome man with piercing blue eyes walked into the store. His dark hair was messy, and his rugged jawline was accentuated by a few days' worth of stubble. He looked like he had just stepped off a sailboat, which, Emilia later learned, was exactly what he had done. "Hi," he said, flashing a charming smile. "I'm Liam. I couldn't help but notice you're new around here." Emilia's heart skipped a beat as she extended her hand. "I'm Emilia. Nice to meet you, Liam." As they shook hands, Emilia felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She quickly pulled her hand back, feeling a little flustered. "What brings you to Willow Creek?" Liam asked, his eyes crinkling at the corners as he smiled. Emilia hesitated for a moment before answering. "I inherited this bookstore from my great-aunt. I'm reopening it soon." Liam's eyes lit up. "No way! I knew your great-aunt. She was an amazing woman." Emilia's eyes widened in surprise. "Really? What was she like?" As they chatted, Emilia found herself feeling more and more at ease around Liam. There was something about him that made her feel like she had known him forever.
