“You’re infuriating,” I muttered, resisting the urge to pinch his cheek. “I just want to know if we’re even going to survive this.” I was worried; there might not be Malakai’s guards to save us a second time.
“Then stop acting like a coward,” Tito said, though his tone softened. “We’re still alive, aren’t we? We’ve got a chance.”
“A chance?” I echoed, sarcasm dripping from my voice. “You mean a chance to get caught again and grilled like prawns? Some chance.”
“You know what? I saved your life by bringing you back here. You couldn’t make it alone, and we both know it. Deal with it.”
