Chapter 9: Paternity Test

654 Words
Lily Hall anxiously waited in the car. The recent events had left her genuinely concerned about Zoe Green going to meet that family of three alone. When she finally saw Zoe Green's figure emerge, she breathed a slight sigh of relief. "Is Jojo okay?" Zoe Green fastened her seatbelt, her demeanor calm. "They confronted me directly, saying they've already received the three billion, so I have to continue accompanying Mr. Jin." "You didn't agree, did you?" Lily Hall clenched her teeth. "It makes no difference whether I agree or not. Agreeing means I go willingly, not agreeing means they'll drug me and send me over," Zoe Green replied. "Then we should call the police!" Lily Hall exclaimed. "The situation hasn't unfolded yet, and we lack evidence. Involving the police won't solve the problem; it might even anger Joseph Green completely. By then, I would lose all freedom and be at their mercy," Zoe Green explained. "Don't panic; let me think calmly about a solution!" Lily Hall tried to soothe Zoe Green despite the anxiety in her heart. Zoe Green smiled at her and said, "I've already figured out how to handle this. Now I need you to help me with a few things." "Alright! Just tell me; I'll get a hundred things done for you!" Zoe Green smiled and pulled out a strand of hair she had just plucked from Joseph Green's head and another from her own. "Take these two strands of hair and discreetly help me with a paternity test!" Lily Hall paused, then widened her eyes in astonishment. "You suspect..." Zoe Green looked at her without saying a word. Although Sofia Green had revealed the secret of her parentage before her death, Zoe Green wanted a clear answer. If what Sofia Green had said was true, she would seek revenge on this heartless couple for killing her biological parents! "It's indeed necessary to verify. Someone capable of such monstrous acts couldn't possibly be a real father!" "This matter isn't urgent. What's most important now is for me to quickly replace my public affairs manager with you," Zoe Green stated. "Chloe Scott and Joseph Green trust Natalie Carter a lot; it might not be easy to replace her," Lily Hall mentioned. Zoe Green lowered her eyelids and gave a cold laugh. "That's not up to them. I'm replacing her tonight!" ... When Zoe Green arrived at the advertising shoot location, her manager Natalie Carter was already waiting for her in the garage. Seeing Zoe Green's nanny car, she rolled her eyes and opened the car door. "Zoe Green, have you lost your mind? It's almost time; we're going to be late. Do you know you just got me scolded by Mr. Jin?" Yes, Zoe Green's position within the team used to be like this; no one took her seriously, especially this manager. She's Chloe Scott's best friend, lacking in competence and having a bad temper. She has been Zoe Green's manager for over a decade. When she was still a child, Natalie Carter used to hit and scold her frequently, only in recent years has she stopped hitting and only scolded. "Isn't communicating with the brand side your job? If you didn't communicate well and got scolded, do you still have a reason?" Zoe Green asked coldly. Natalie Carter was taken aback, looking at Zoe Green in disbelief. "What did you just say?" "If you feel aggrieved by this job, you can leave immediately," Zoe Green said, getting out of the car. "Zoe Green, you've gone too far! Do you even know who you're talking to?" Natalie Carter exploded, if it weren't for being in public, she would have slapped Zoe Green's face right away. What a despicable person, daring to be so disrespectful? "Of course, I know who you are!" Zoe Green walked up to Natalie Carter and whispered softly in her ear, "Aren't you just my dad's secret little lover?"
