Janus scuttled up the path, Madden between him and Eva. They began to stretch ahead, and Madden turned to wait. “No. Don"t.” Eva waved them on. “Get the car started. I"ll be right behind you.” They disappeared for a moment around a bend, and for once, Eva felt none of the confusion that had so far accompanied Madden"s every exit. The spell had truly been broken.
