Amid the bustling areas of New York City, where towering skyscrapers stretched toward the sky, Belle Sinclair, a confident 16-year-old,was busy loading her belongings into the trunk of her car. This car was a special gift from her grandmother for her sixteenth birthday -a symbol of independence and the new journey she was to embark on.
For years, Belle had lived in the chaotic city, but now, she longed for peace and change. Her destination? Montauk --a quiet coastal town far removed from the constant noise and flashing lights of New York. Lith the last suitcase finally placed inside, Belle took a deep breath. It was time.
But before she could leave, she had to face a bittersweet farewell to her parents." She's still too young to move so far away on her own!" Adelaide, Belle's mom, voiced her concern.
'I know you worry, Adelaide, but Belle is growing up. "This is her decision, and we have to respect that," her father, Mr. Johnson, reassured her gently.
Belle met her parents' gaze, feeling a slight twinge of emotion in her chest, but she refused to let it hold her back.
"Dad, mom, don't worry! "And mom don't cry like a drama queen when I leave, okay?" Belle teased with a playful grin, hoping to lighten the mood. "I can take care of myself just fine!"
-" We trust you, sweetheart." her father smiled warmly, though his eyes held traces of concern.
Checking her watch, Belle realized she had to go.
-"i need to leave now, or I'll be late."
With that, she climbed into the driver's seat, turned on the engine, and began her journey. Through the rearview mirror, she saw her parents standing still, watching her car grow smaller and smaller until it disappeared into the towering city landscape.
After hours of driving, Belle finally arrived in Montauk. The town was the complete opposite of New York -- quiet streets, fresh air, and the soothing sound of waves crashing nearby. She pulled up in front of a charming house with a white Pickett fence and a cozy front yard.
Stepping out of the car, Belle stretched her arms, savoring the peacefulness.
""Perfect! "No more honking, no more madness," she muttered to herself in satisfaction.
She had just popped open the trunk to grab her luggage when an unfamiliar voice called out from across the street.
"well, well. . . Let's see what we have here? A princess, huh? I didn't expect one to live here."
Belle looked up, frowning slightly, a tall guy with messy dark brown hair, piercing gray eyes, and the kind of self-assured smirk that instantly annoyed her stood leaning against a motorcycle, arms crossed, looking at her with mild amusement.
-" And now is that any of your business?" Belle fired back, raising an eyebrow.
-"no reason. It just doesn't happen often. "I mean, rich girls usually stick to the city, don't they?" he shrugged, clearly enjoying getting a reaction out of her.
Belle huffed in irritation, gripping her suitcase a little tighter, as if wanting to prove she wasn't some fragile princess.
-"Ryan! Stop bothering the new neighbor and inside to help me!"
-"Belle blinked. Bryan? Is this cocky guy her neighbor? She glanced over at his house and sighed internally. Of course, she had to live right across from someone like him.
Ryan only raised an eyebrow at his mother's words, then turned back to belle with a final smirk.
-"Good luck surviving here, princess."
Belle clenched her jaw, thinking to herself : 'Great! My neighbor is insufferable. Let's see how long i can tolerate this.
After organizing everything and tidying up, Belle decided to take a short break before preparing her school supplies for the next day. She called Amanda, her closest friend, to share what had happened after moving into her new home.
-"You know what, Amanda? Meet this guy here, and he's not that great. "On top of that, he's my neighbor -- right across the street!" Belle said, clearly frustrated.
Meanwhile, Amanda, who was out for a walk on the other side of the screen, paused for a moment to comfort her friend.
-"Come on, Belle! Relax. "Maybe he's just acting that way because you're new here," Amanda reasoned.
Then she continued," Okay ! Go to bed early, 'bookworm'."
-" I know, good night! And I'm not a bookworm!!"
-" Yeah, yeah, you're not. Good night!"
After their conversation, Belle went to bed, preparing herself for her first day at the new school.
But little did she know tomorrow would bring an even bigger shock -- because when she walked into her new school, she'd end up face to face with Ryan Callahan again.
